Dota 2: Singapore Major Preview

Let’s take a closer look at the first Major of this year’s DPC.

We are around two weeks away from the start of the first Major in this DPC. On March 27, eighteen of the best Dota 2 teams in the world, all of those who managed to qualify for the event will have to go up against each other.

This Season was the first of the DPC's new format. Teams were divided into different regions with both an Upper and a Lower Division. The teams in the Upper Division battled out for a spot in Singapore. We got to see loads of amazing series, and only the cream of the crop made it through to the Major.

Event Format

The first two days of the tournament, will give fans the chance to watch wild card matches. Six teams will play in a Bo2 format, but only two of them will advance to the group stage.

Speaking of the group stage, it's taking place between March 29 and 30. Where eight teams will compete in a round-robin format. Two of them will be able to advance to the playoffs, whereas the others will have to go to the lower bracket. After the groups, the last two teams in the standings will be eliminated from the Major.

The Playoffs

Once the playoffs arrive, we'll have five-days of epic action. Starting from March 31, the twelve remaining teams will have to go up against each other. Besides the amazing prize pool of  $500,000 USD, they'll compete for 2700 DPC points. This will have a massive impact on TI 10’s placings.
