Here's the latest news from the Chinese Dota 2 scene.
Zhang “xiao8” Ning is one of the biggest names in the Dota 2 industry. The player has been a vital part of many teams over the years, including NewBee and their successful TI 4 run. Now, after spend some time in other Chinese organizations, the legendary player decided to join forces with PSG.LGD.
What happened with LGD?
In case you haven’t followed the news lately, PSG.LGD are going through a massive roster change. This was rather surprising because the team was performing pretty well recently. Despite that, two of the most famous players Xu “fy” Linsen and Lu “Somnus” Ya decided to leave the team.
To make matters worse, the legendary Chinese organization also lost Ren “old eLeVeN” Yangwei, who returned to Vici Gaming. Let’s also not forget to other t3wo players – Yang “Chalice” Shenyi and Wei “xNova” Yap. Both of them were transferred to EHOME, meaning PSG.LGD had to start from scratch.
This is were xiao8 comes in. The legendary players were a part of the organization for many years, so he's just the player that the team needs. The last time he was a part of this organization was four years go, back when he was just a player. Nowadays, xiao8 mainly occupies the coaching role, but that doesn’t mean he can’t help.
After the change, PSG.LGD also announced the new squad:
- Wang “Ame” Zhunyu
- Cheng “NoithingTo Say” Jin Xiang
- Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida
- Zhao “XinQ” Zixing
- Zhang “y” Yiping
Ame was a part of CDEC Gaming, but the organization decided to bring him back to the squad. On the other hand, Faith_bian and y decided to join the team because they were free agents. Even though we didn’t expect it, the last two players (XinQ and NothingToSay) are on loan from EHOME.
It’s going to be interesting to see what will happen with PSG.LGD’s new roster. On paper, it seems like they have what it takes to bring down some of the best teams in the world. However, the fact that they’ve lost some of their players is something worth taking into account.
The good thing is that Xiao8 has many years of experience, which means he will help the new team a lot. Despite that, it still won’t be easy to go toe to toe with some of the biggest teams in the region.
