Every top team encounters problems now and again. However, Newbee took it to an entirely new level during this DPC season. In fact, not only did they qualify for just a few events, but even when they did, the results were just not there.
As the season progressed, Scc and Co. decided to focus on the TI Qualifiers. However, they were just run down by the other Chinese teams, and despite their efforts, the TI 4 champion will not attend this years’ event.
WCG 2019
WCG was likely the last glimmer of hope for Newbee. Fortunately for them, they had a relatively effortless performance up until the Semi-Finals. Hippomaniacs were hungry for success after their fantastic performance during the TI Qualifier. However, it seems like they’ve underestimated Scc’s performance a little bit too much. The Chinese prodigy was having one of his best series and was the primary person to “blame” for their success.
Newbee continued their domination during the Grand Finals as well. In the end, they finished the event without a single series loss, an awe-inspiring feat. This was their third trophy since the end of TI 7, which was two years ago. Apart from WCG, they won ESL One Genting and the Thunder Fire Spring Cup, which was actually an online tournament and thus, not as prestigious.
Conclusion
Hopefully for Newbee things will change for the better. After all, Newbee is one of the oldest and strongest names in Chinese Dota. It will be a shame if they simply fade away.
