Dota 2 Lima Major 2023 Event Overview

An outline of Dota 2's pandemonium in Peru

This year’s first Dota Pro Circuit Major and the first ever to host in South America – Lima Major 2023 – is just a day away. Eighteen of the best teams from different parts of the world will make it to the amazing Arena 1 in Lima, Peru for a share of half a million dollars and 1900 DPC points.

On one hand, the excitement to watch Tundra Esports live up to their mantle after taking the winner's title at The International 11 lives on, on the other are potent squads of varying degrees of strength waiting on the periphery to usurp the incorporeal title of best Dota 2 team in the world. Top contenders include TI11 Semifinalist Team Liquid, the potent and dynamic Gaimin Gladiators, TI10 winners Team Spirit, local heroes beastcoast, CIS rising stars BetBoom Team and, of course, Chinese powerhouses PSG.LGD and Team Aster.

Due to the fact that there have been several roster changes in the past few months, this Major might just become the turning point for some teams, with plenty more player shuffles following soon.

The qualified squads will be divided into two groups of nine. Here’s the complete list of qualified sides, sorted by group —

Group A

  • Evil Geniuses
  • Execration
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Talon Esports
  • Team Spirit
  • TSM
  • Tundra Esports

Group B

  • beastcoast
  • BetBoom Team
  • Entity
  • Geek Slate
  • HellRaisers
  • Knights

The teams will be fighting neck-and-neck for a lion's share of $500,000 and DPC points amounting up to 1900. The spoils will be distributed across the top 8 teams gracing the Upper and Lower Bracket, and they will be distributed thus:

  • 1st: $200,000 + 400 DPC Points
  • 2nd: $100,000 + 350 DPC Points
  • 3rd: $75,000 + 300 DPC Points
  • 4th: $50,000 + 250 DPC Points

The Old One
When he's not sighing at sub-standard teammates in Dota 2 and CS2, The Old One is writing about those two games (among other things). If you see his name around the site too many times for your liking, well, the guy just never stops writing. Yes, we've tried an intervention.
