Dota 2: Least Popular Heroes Following 2023 DPC Tour 2 Divsion I

The least popular heroes after the 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I might surprise some of you.

The 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I is over, so we know all of the teams that will compete at The Berlin Major 2023. The latter will be the second Major of this DPC and will start a few weeks from now. Keep in mind that DreamLeague Season 19 is just around the corner, and you can learn more about it by checking this article.

With that said, there aren’t any rumors about an upcoming Dota 2 update, meaning that Dreamleague S19 and The Berlin Major 2023 should be played on the same patch as Tour 2. This meta wasn’t that different from the previous one, meaning we saw tons of Rubick, Disruptor, and so on. That said, some Dota 2 heroes weren’t famous at all during Tour 2, and in this article, we will go over them.

Western Europe

Most Western European teams have more or less the same tactics and focus on similar heroes. That said, there were 5 heroes that weren’t picked at all – Ancient Apparition, Brewmaster, Bristleback, Sven and Weaver. It seems like neither of the WEU powerhouses wanted to use them in their tactics.

Besides them, some of the popular options in other parts of the world weren’t that big here/ Phantom Assassin, for example, was only picked once, despite being a pretty good counter to Anti-Mage. Clinkz and Slardar also got to shine only once, even though the two heroes are pretty strong in the meta.

Other interesting names that weren’t popular in the 2023 DPC Tour 2 include Magnus, Void Spirit, and Riki. Aside from the latter, which was picked twice, the first 2 heroes only appeared in 1 game.

Eastern Europe

The situation in Eastern Europe is very similar to the one in Western Europe when it comes down to the least popular heroes after the 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I. If we look at the bottom 2 places, we can find Magnus and Sven again. Neither of those heroes received any substantial buffs or nerfs, so teams decided they were not worth picking.

Moving on, we have Venomancer, Viper, and Visage. The first 2 heroes aren’t that big in the meta, so we’re not surprised they didn’t get any picks. However, Visage is a hero that usually has a role in the meta. The hero was the go-to option for many teams, but it seems like most prefer to focus on something different.

Aside from the names mentioned above, we only saw heroes like Riki, QoP, Void Spirit, and Lina once. What’s interesting about Lina is that the hero received tons of nerfs after she was the most popular carry in the previous meta.

The top Chinese teams have always had their own thing going regarding the Dota 2 meta. Consequently, we’re not surprised that there are some differences when it comes down to the least popular heroes after the 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I.

If we look at the least picked heroes, we will find the likes of Huskar, Spectre, Viper and Zeus. While most people shouldn’t be surprised about the last 3 names, Huskar is actually one of the heroes that received buffs in the Dota 2 patch 7.32e. However, it seems like they aren’t enough to put him back in the meta.

Interestingly, we can also see the names of Ogre Magi and Gyrocopter on the list because both heroes only appeared in 1 match. Even though they’re definitely not the hottest options in the current meta, these 2 heroes always had a key role for some teams in China. However, it seems like they’ve decided to change their tactics.

Southeast Asia

The situation in Southeast Asia is somewhere in between China and Europe. If we take a look at the least popular heroes after the 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I, we can see the names of seven heroes that didn’t receive a single pick. The list includes names like Razor, Underlord, Phantom Lancer, Lina, Oracle, and more.

In terms of the heroes that were only picked a couple of times, most of them are found in other regions. For example, Magnus, Erath Spirit, Nyx, and Shadow Demon only appeared in one match.

If we look at the most popular heroes, we can find the licks of Rubick, Tiny, and Nature’s Prophet. This proved that the SEA meta hadn’t changed much from Tour 1.

North America

The North American Dota 2 teams used a wide array of heroes in the 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I, but Brewmaster, Legion Commanded, Necrophos, Phoenix, and Venomancer weren’t on the list. Neither of those heroes had the chance to shine, which is surprising for some, such as Necro. The latter received a critical buff to Death Pulse, which costs 30 less mana than before.

Magnus and Mars are also 2 interesting names that didn’t appear as much as we’d expected. Even though teams like Shopify Rebellion used them a lot before, it seems like Arteezy and the rest decided to focus on other heroes.

South America

The last region we will look at when it comes down to the 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I is South America. Looking at the top picks, we can see that seven heroes didn’t appear in a single game. This includes the likes of Viper, Venomamcer, Legion, Nyx, CM, AA, and Spirit Breaker. Most of these names weren’t popular in other regions as well, so we don’t expect to see them in the meta.

Regarding heroes that only got one pick, some of the most interesting options include Omniknight and Spectre. Although we expected to see these 2 more often after the arrival of the Dota 2 patch 7.32e, this isn’t the case.
