The Summit 11 is going to be the first Minor of this season's Dota Pro Circuit. In fact, unless things change, it will be the only DPC event taking place in NA this season. This is a clear sign that the region is currently in a very strange state. Other than that, this is the first-ever Beyond the Summit tournament that will feature a live audience. Be sure to watch it live from November 7-10 at the BTS Studio in Los Angeles, California.
Having said that, today we learned the first two teams that secured their ticket to BTS 11.
SEA
Unlike in MDL Chengdu, this region only gets one slot for the Minor. This makes it very hard for the teams, but, in the end, one made it – Geek Fam. They played three other teams that couldn’t make it to the Major. Even though many people thought that Cignal would take the win here, Geek Fam brought it home. What’s even more impressive is that this took place just a couple of weeks after the team was formed. That said, Geek Fam does have some of the best players in this region in the face of Carlo “Kuku” Palaad and Marc Polo “Raven” Luis Fastro. Who knows, we might see them in the next Major.
China
Invictus Gaming has always been one of the best teams in China. However, ever since TI 2 came to an end, they have constantly been haunted by roster changes that weren't good enough to put them on the map. However, after yet another full roster change, it seems like they are finally back.
Hu “Kaka” Liangzhi and his teammates were not able to find their place at the Chengdu Major. This put them in another bracket with three other teams – Newbee, Royal Never Give Up and CDEC Gaming. Each one of them was eager to prove itself and grab that single spot for the Minor.
However, only one of them was able to hold their ground – Invictus Gaming. Not only did they win, but they did it in style, against one of their biggest opponents right now – CDEC Gaming. The Grand Finals were absolutely amazing to watch as there was tons of back and forth action going on. Both teams gave it all out but it seems like the fifth game of the series was the breaking point for CDEC Gaming. They seemed tired and this gave iG the needed avenge to close this amazing series.
Expect more information about the other teams that will be going to LA. After all, there are a couple more regions that need to “elect” their participants.
