Dota 2: Five Combos That Will Help You Reach Your Desired MMR

Five Dota 2 hero combos that are guaranteed to help gain you MMR

Unless you are a professional Dota 2 player or someone who plays for fun, you want to gain as much MMR as possible. Since this system was implemented in the game, people have done everything they can to reach their desired MMR. Valve has changed and adjusted the ranks several times so far, but it remains relatively similar to how it was many years ago.

The only way to gain MMR is to win your ranked games. This sounds easy, but it is really hard, even if you are much better than your opponents. Hence, it is always a good idea to know what combos to get in order to be successful while playing.

The options you are about to see below should work in every meta. Of course, this doesn’t mean you should always go for them because the current patch might offer better options. However, the idea of this article is to be evergreen, so here are a couple of options to pick from.

Terrorblade and Shadow Demon

The first combo that you should definitely try out involves two prevalent heroes. One of them is a late-game monster, whereas the other is one of the strongest offensive supports in Dota 2.

What makes this combo so powerful is that it does not depend on a given meta. In other words, you can use it, no matter the current patch.

In order for this combo to work, Terroblade needs to accumulate a lot of farm. The idea here is for SD to use his illusions on TB when he has the Meta on. Doing this will increase the damage output a lot, and it will allow TB to become even more dangerous.

Generally speaking, SD can work with several other heroes, including Luna, Drow Ranger, and Morphling. However, the hero’s abilities allow him to shine alongside Terrorblade because he can save him from dying and give him enough time to use his Sunder.

Magnus and Juggernaut

When talking about Dota 2 MMR and how to get your desired rank, we definitely have to include some info about Magnus. The latter experienced a lot of transitions in the last couple of years, and we even had the chance to see him as a mid-laner. That said, it is safe to say that Magnus shines the most in the offlane or as a position 4.

Besides his game-changing ultimate, Magnus is one of the best PUB heroes because of Empower. This ability makes every DPS hero feel much stronger because it increases his farming speed. Speaking of melee DPS in Dota 2, we have to mention Juggernaut.

It is safe to say that Juggernaut is one of the “evergreen carries” because he is a hero that can work in every patch. Valve rarely makes any radical changes to him, which means he is a relatively safe pick. On top of that, the hero is not that hard to play, meaning that everyone can learn how to use him properly.

Besides increasing Juggernaut’s farming speed, Magnus’s ultimate allows the carry to rip through their enemies like a knife through butter.

Templar Assassin and Drow Ranger

If you have a friend who likes to play mid/safe lane and you are also a core player, one of the best combos that you can use for PUBs includes Templar Assassin and Drow Ranger. Despite the fact that Drow can work well with any ranged hero, she definitely shines with Templar Assassin. The latter is notorious as one of the best damage dealers in the game.

Templar Assassin was top-tier mid-hero several patches in a row, but she is no longer part of the pro meta. However, she continues to be one of the best pub-stompers in the game and one of the best snowballing heroes. While it is true that the hero deals insane damage on her own, having Drow Ranger by her side makes things even better.

Besides eradicating the mid-lane, a TA who gets a good start can kill any hero in seconds. That is one of the reasons why she is among the best heroes for pub games.

Slark, with any defensive support

One of the things that you need to remember is that PUB Dota 2 has nothing to do with professional games. Since you don’t have the best players in the world to rely on, you have to get a hero you’re comfortable with and something that is capable of carrying his own team. There are several good options, but it is really hard to get any better than Slark.

The hero is designed in a way that allows you to secure loads of solo kills. What’s more, Slark is one of the best snowballers in the game, which is another reason you should pick him. Securing several early kills leads to a fast Shadow Blade, which is when things get series.

That said, the only way to have a good laning stage and secure a couple of kills is to have good support. Although Slark can work with most aggressive supps, this also applies to the defensive ones. Omniknight is a perfect option because the hero can deal a lot of damage when needed and save Slark from tricky situations.

Faceless Void and any AoE spellcaster, such as Invoker

The last combo that we’d like to include in this article involves Faceless Void. This is one of the typical carries you will find while playing PUBs because his ultimate is extremely strong. Besides the fact that Void can land kills on his own, his ultimate allows other heroes to shine, especially spellcasters.

Faceless Void can work with different options, such as Leshrac or Invoker. Both heroes do tons of AoE magical damage and can land a kill during the Chronosphere. We can also include options like Shadow Fiend, Queen of Pain, Puck, Tinker, and even Timbersaw. All of these heroes work well with Void, so make sure to test this combo.
