Dota 2: ESL One Thailand Online – Americas Preview

Here are the teams taking part in this amazing tournament.

ESL One is usually one of the most anticipated tournaments out there. However, due to COVID-19, ESL One Thailand will be played in an online format, which is why we have several regions.

One of the most interesting regions is North and South America. Both of them will begin on August 8, which means that we still have a few weeks until they start. There will be a total of eight teams that will play for a $65K USD prize pool.

The teams

Six out of the eight teams from NA and SA received a direct invite from the organizers. This means that the other two will earn their spot among the rest via the qualifiers that will start soon.

Even though we don’t know the names of the other two teams, ESL released a list of everyone who’s directly invited:

  • CR4ZY
  • Quincy Crew
  • 4 Zoomers
  • business associates
  • Thunder Predator
  • beastcoast

As you can see, there are many amazing teams we'll be able to watch. However, there is one name that’s missing, and that’s Evil Geniuses. As you know, the NA powerhouse is the best team in the region for many years now, which is why it’s surprising that we won’t find it here.

However, due to a schedule conflict, Artour “Arteezy” Babaev and his team-mates decided to take part in one of the biggest European event of the year the OMEGA League. Even though it won’t be the same without them, EG's absence means other teams from the region will get the chance to shine.

ESL One Thailand Americans will take place from August 8-30. Don’t forget to watch the upcoming qualifiers where are final two teams will be revealed, they're sure to be pretty exciting.
