Dota 2: ESL One Los Angeles Major Groups Preview – Groups A & B

Get ready for Groups A and B of the LA Major.

We are literally days away from the beginning of what looks to be one of the most interesting Majors of the season. We expected to learn the group stage distribution after the end of the Dota Summit 12. However, the organizers of the event decided to release them earlier.

ESL One Los Angeles Major will feature sixteen of the best teams in the entire Dota 2 world. They will be competing for their share of the $1M USD prize pool, as well as a lot of DPC points. As you know, those points are needed in order for a team to receive a direct invite for TI 10.

Having said that, let’s take a look at the first two groups and which teams ended up there. Keep it in mind that unlike Minors, the bottom two teams here won’t be eliminated but instead, they will go to the Lower Bracket.

Group A

The first group of the event brings together Team Secret, Thunder Predator, Natus Vincere, and Royal Never Give Up. At first glance, it seems like the European powerhouse (Secret) will definitely be among the first two teams in this group. This is definitely expected, considering the most recent state of this team. They’ve been nearly flawless in their last couple of events, and even won the DreamLeague Season 13 Major around a month and a half ago.

Perhaps the more interesting clash in this group will be between Natus Vincere and Royal Never Give Up. Both of those teams have what it takes to win against each other and they are both unpredictable. However, if we have to judge but the latest performance of the teams, we believe that RNGU has a better chance.

Group B

This is undoubtedly the more interesting group of the two because we have some serious names here. Evil Geniuses, OG, Geek Fam, and Chaos Esports Club will have to determine which two of them are capable of going to the Upper Bracket of this event.

Even though Chaos EC and Geek Fam are awesome teams, EG and OG are the ones that everyone will look at. This is going to be one of the most interesting encounters, especially considering what’s OG’s current roster. In case you forgot, one of EG’s most legendary players (Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan) joined OG’s new roster around a month ago. Since then, OG looks very strong and qualifiers for the Major effortlessly. However, we are yet to see if they have what it takes to bring down the mighty EG. Don’t forget that the NA powerhouse is also in excellent shape recently, so you never know what will happen.

The best thing about this group is that OG and EG will be the opening series here. Needless to say, the last thing you want is to miss this amazing fight.
