Dota 2 DreamLeague Season 21 Meta Analysis

This is an overview of DreamLeague Season 21’s meta.

Sadly, the last big tournament before The International 12 is over. DreamLeague Season 21 features some of the best Dota 2 teams that were fighting for a $1,000,000 prize pool. We saw a lot of surprising results, especially from the likes of Shopify Rebellion, but in the end, Team Spirit won the event. This was a very important victory for the mighty Eastern European powerhouse because the team also win the Riyadh Masters 2023 a few weeks ago. Securing 2 big events prior to TI 12 means the squad is one of the big favorites right now.

With that said, this article will not focus on the teams and what happened because everyone can check the previous results. Instead, we will go over the meta and see which heroes were picked more than others. The DreamLeague Season 21 meta analysis is incredibly important because we expect that TI 12 will be played on the same patch. Even if Valve decides to release a newer version, it will include Minor changes, so many of the picks you are about to see should be the same. So, let’s learn more details.

The Most Picked Hero – Vengeful Spirit

One of the first things we want to include in this DreamLeague Season 21 meta analysis is the most picked hero of the event. Although we did not expect to see Vengeful Spirit here, the hero tops the list with a total of 35 appearances. What’s also impressive is that she has 54% win rate, which is a clear sign that she’s one of the best options right now.

To be honest, we did not expect to see Vengeful Spirit on the list because the hero received three nerfs in 7.34c. Those things were necessary because of the many buffs in the previous patch which made her the go-to option at BetBoom Dacha. 7.34c changed a lot of things about the hero, but it seems like they weren’t the same because Venge continues to dominate the meta.

The hero works well in a variety of setups, and she can fill in many different rules. Considering her pick and win rate, we wouldn’t be surprised if Valve’s new patch (if there is one) will nerf her even more before The International 12. If that doesn’t happen, Vengeful Spirit will be one of the best heroes to get.

The Hero with the highest Win Rate – Brewmaster/Treant Protector

When talking about the heroes with the highest win rate, we want to include characters that appeared more than 10 times. Following our DreamLeague Season 21 meta analysis, it became clear that there are two heroes that meet the criteria – Brewmaster and Treant Protector. The first one has a jaw-dropping 80% win rate from 10 games, whereas the other one sits at a 75% win rate but played in 20 matches. These stats prove that the two heroes are really good and can work in a variety of setups.

Brewmaster did not get that many changes in the latest Dota 2 patch. In fact, the hero received a small nerf because Cindrew Brew’s cooldown was increased. However, Brewmaster was buffed a lot in the previous patch, which means he’s one of the best offlaners right now. The only problem with the hero is that he is pretty hard to master, so not all top-tier offlaners use him in professional games.

As for Treant Protector, he has been one of the Dota 2 supports for a while now. The hero provides excellent laning stage damage, vision, and his ultimate is one of the best in the game. Furthermore, he is easy to master, which explains why he has one of the most impressive win rates at DreamLeague Season 21.

The Hero with The Lowest Win Rate – Tundehunter

Before sharing some words about Tidehunter, we’d like to mention that Rubick appeared in 7 matches and lost all of them. These results may come as a surprise because they caught us off guard during our DreamLeague Season 21 meta analysis. However, it seems like the top Dota 2 teams have found a way to deal with the annoying hero, so we do not expect to see him that often in action.

Since we want to include Dota 2 heroes that appeared more often than the rest, we’ve put Tidehunter as the hero with the lowest win rate. The offlaner took part in 13 matches and only won 3 of them. A lot of people might be surprised by these results because Tidehunter has always been a relatively stable pick. He works well in a variety of setups and has one of the best ultimates in the game. However, it seems like the hero is just not worth getting in the current meta. He needs items to be effective, and the game is too fast-paced to wait for him. Consequently, most professional Dota 2 teams prefer to get other offlaners.

DreamLeague Season 21 Analysis – Heroes That Did Not Appear At All

Even though most of the recent big Dota 2 tournaments included tons of interesting picks, there are always a few heroes that do not receive any attention. DreamLeague Season 21 is not an exception because there were 3 heroes that weren’t picked at all. One of them is really surprising because he has one of the best win rates in PUBs.

Following the DreamLeague Season 21 analysis, the first hero that did not receive a single pick is Tinker. He’s a midder who could work in some setups, but most people avoid picking him because he is tricky and too risky. BetBoom Team is probably the only pro team that uses him occasionally, but this wasn’t the case here.

The second hero that did not receive any picks is Chaos Knight, a carry that used to be popular before. Sadly, most professional teams do not like using him in the current meta because they focus on other carries.

Finally, we have Outworld Destroyer, the midder with one of the highest win rates right now in PUBs. Despite these impressive stats, OD was one of the heroes that did not appear in a single game. There are several reasons as to why this could be the case, such as the fact that he is not good against Black King Bar.
