Dota 2: DreamLeague Season 13 Meta Analysis

We take a look at the most popular heroes in the Leipzig Major.

Last week was awesome for every Dota 2 fan out there. We got to see DreamLeague Season 13, which was the second DPC Major for 2019-2020. After plenty of interesting series, it was Team Secret that lifted the trophy.

Having said that, it is now time to take a look back and see what were the most popular heroes. Even though the meta was more or less the same, there were still differences in comparison to the Bukovel Minor.

Before you begin the read, remember that there is a new patch now 7.24. Although there are not that many radical changes, most of the popular heroes from this Major have seen a nerf.

Alright, Let’s dive in.

Rubick

Once again, the pesky support hero is topping the charts. Rubick has been in the meta for ages now because he is just too good to pass.

Rubick can work in many setups, including some of the most popular drafts in the current meta. What’s more, his Telekinesis is one of the deadliest late-game disables. Once the hero gets a few items, he becomes extremely hard to play against, especially if there are certain spells that need to be “protected”, such as Black Hole for example.

Rubick was picked a total of 33 times and has 42% win rating.

Puck

This is one of the heroes that made the biggest comeback after the Outlanders Update. Puck used to be one of the best tempo controllers in the game. However, after a series of matches, the hero slowly faded away.

The Outlanders Updater revived the hero once more. Nevertheless, instead of being a tempo controller once again, Puck is now one of the biggest physical damage dealers in the game. The main reason behind this is his new talent, which allows him to have a bonus attack on his Shift.

Despite all the changes, the hero only has a 38% win rate out of 24 picks.

Doom

Generally speaking, Doom has always been strong. There were times when he was one of the most popular heroes in the pro scene and it seems like these times are back.

Apart from sheer damage, the obvious reason why Doom is loved by everyone is his ult. If its used right, this ultimate can be game-winning, especially when it’s used on certain heroes.

We saw Doom in 36 games with a 56% win rating.

Slark

The next hero on our list is probably one of the most annoying carries in the game. Slark has always been a nightmare to play against, especially in pubs. However, when it comes down to the professional scene, the situation was a little bit different because pro teams know how to play against this hero.

However, after the Outlanders update, Slark has a new item build that seems to be just broken. Instead of buying a Shadow Blade and Echo Sabre, players now rush a Diffusal Blade and Aghanim’s Scepter. As a result, Slark becomes even deadlier and harder to kill, which results in his pick rate.

During the span of the Leipzig Major, he was picked a total of 31 times and has 45% win rating.

Disruptor

The last hero that we will highlight is one of the strongest late-game supports in Dota 2. Similar to Puck, this hero has been “in and out” of the meta for some time now. However, in the last couple of months, the hero skyrocketed in popularity.

Although all of his spells are awesome, it’s safe to say that his ultimate is the spell that defines him. When it’s used properly, it has the potential to turn around team-fights. As if that’s not enough, if he manages to get an Aghanim’s Scepter, it gets even worse for the enemies.

Apart from being popular, Disruptor also has one of the highest win-rates in the event 70%.

Be sure to check out our daily recaps if you missed on any of the action. We’ve tried to cover the most interesting things that happened.
