Here's all the latest on the drama surrounding one of the biggest Chinese Dota 2 organizations.
Everyone who’s been following the pro-Dota 2 scene in the last couple of years knows who Newbee is. Even though they haven’t had the best year, this is one of the Chinese teams that won TI a few years ago.
However, it seems like things went absolutely downhill for the Chinese organization. Despite the fact they are one of the main organizations that created the Chinese Dota 2 Professional Associates, they’ve just received a permanent ban from it — as well as from IMBA; which is one of the biggest names when it comes down to event organizing.
Newbee decided to join forces alongside some of the best Chinese Dota 2 teams in order to form this league. The idea behind it was to keep the competitiveness of the region while the world was affected by COVID-19. In fact, we even had the pleasure of watching the first season of CDA and we were just expecting to watch the next one. However, following the drama, there will definitely be some changes.
What happened?
According to the official report, Newbee.Young has been using several accounts with random names and they’ve played in various online events. As a result, ImbaTV decided to ban them from any future tournaments that will be organized by them.
This is likely in response to their match against Avengerls in the Minor qualifiers, the most blatant fix I've ever witnessed. pic.twitter.com/ZB6IBUHkPD

Of course, being one of the biggest Chinese Dota 2 organizations, Newbee also released a statement. The statement basically denies all accusations, saying that they never took part in any match fixings.
However, IMBATV has already sent a complaint to Valve. Which means we'll have to wait and see what will happen.
We really hope that the entire situation is just one giant misunderstanding. Otherwise, it will be a shame to see one of the biggest names in Dota 2 banned. Sure, we understand that the world is going through tough times now, but this doesn’t mean you should break the rules.
Here's the list of players who received a ban from the CDA and IMBA's future tournaments;
- Xu “Moogy” Han
- Yin “Aq” Rui
- Wen “Wizard” Lipeng
- Yan “Waixi” Chao
- Zeng “Faith” Hongda
