After the dust slowly settles from the various roster changes, it’s time to take a look at the upcoming first DPC qualifiers for the MDL Chengdu Major & BTS Minor. Starting on October 5, all regions have to determine which teams are going to represent them. Those who perform better will go to the Major, whereas the others – to the Minor. As you know, Valve changed the DPC rules, and now there is only one qualifier for both.
Let’s take a look at which teams have been invited to the qualifiers.
Europe
Usually, this is the hardest regio in Dota because the vast majority of top teams in the world are from Europe. However, most of them announced that they would be taking some time off. This means that they will miss out on the first Major & Minor.
While this is bad news for the viewers, it’s more than welcome for the other teams. NiP, Team Singularity, GODSENT, Ad Finem, Wind and Rain, Hippomaniacs, Bridge Four and Cool Team will have to determine which one will go to the first big tournament.
CIS
CIS one of the most exciting regions when it comes down to the performance of the teams. However, Vitrus.Pro seems to be miles away from the competition, which is why the winner is always known beforehand. That said, they are with a new roster now, so this will be their first challenge yet.
What’s more, Natus Vincere & Gambit Esports are also doing very well in their recent games. That’s why these qualifiers will be very interesting to watch. Apart from the teams mentioned above, there are also a couple more – HellRaisers, Old But Gold and Positive Guys.
SEA
The SEA Dota 2 scene has been on the rise for some time now. That’s why there are finally going to be three slots here. Many people expected this to happen during the last DPC, but it took Valve more time to make the decision.
Expect a ruthless battle between Fnatic, TNC Predator, Geek Fam, Boom Esports, Alpha x Hashtag, Reality Rift, Sterling Global Dragons, and Team Jinesbros. This is going to be a show that you won’t want to miss.
China
Even though PSG.LGD will not be taking part in these qualifiers, China remains as one of the most competitive regions. Every one of the teams here has the chance to end up at the Major.
Vici Gaming, Keen Gaming, Team Aster, EHOME, Invictus Gaming, Royal Never Give Up, Team Sirius and CDEC Gaming will have to determine which one of them is worth representing their country.
North America
We can only hope that NA will be “resurrected” in this DPC. The last one was not good for the region at all. In fact, the only team that came close to the other top teams in the world was EG. However, even they were unable to win any single big event.
That said, the situation looks very different this time around. EG announced their roster changes and there are two new teams that look very promising as well. Expect a brutal battle among Fighting Pepegas, J.Storm, Quincy Crew, Team Plus and Team Xolotl.
South America
For better or worse, SA remains the weakest region in Dota 2 right now. Despite that, the performance of Infamous at TI 9 was a clear sign that the region is head in the right direction.
Anvorgesa, FURIA, Gorillaz-Pride, EGOBOYS, Infamous, paiN Gaming, Team Unknown and NoPing Esports will have to determine which of them will go the Major and Minor.
