After achieving almost everything on Dota 2, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs decided to step down from the competitive scene.
In the last couple of years, Ceb became one of the most popular Dota 2 players in the world. He managed to win pretty much every big Dota 2 tournament and became one of the only players to win The International two times in a row. Following his enormous success, Ceb the 29-year-old French player decided it is time to step back.

As you may remember, Ceb used to be OG’s coach before he started playing for the team, which happened at TI 8. Back then, OG had a lot of problems, which led to Ceb taking over the offlane role. A few days later, the European powerhouse managed to win the most prestigious tournament in the world, despite being the underdog.
Besides being an excellent offlaner, Ceb is known for being of OG’s motivators in-game and outside of it. Sadly, now that the player decided to step back and focus on his personal life, the team will have to find someone to replace him.
After Ceb announced his decision, OG expressed their gratitude, creating a short video consisting of his best moments for the club. Interestingly, there's also a video where the French superstar explained why he decided to leave the club. According to it, he didn’t have the motivation to play anymore.
Other reasons for stepping back
Besides the lack of motivation, another reason why Ceb decided to retire from Dota 2 is the problems with his eyes. In case you don’t remember, the French Dota 2 player had a serious eye condition prior to TI 10 which could have resulted in blindness if it wasn’t for the emergency surgery.
Keep in mind that this isn’t Ceb’s first retirement. He decided to take some time off before as well, but according to him, this time the retirement is different. In other words, we have to wait and see who will take his role in OG. The team hasn’t revealed its full roster for the upcoming season, but by the looks of it, it'll be interesting.
