Dota 2: 2022 DPC Western Europe Division I and Division II Week 2 Results

Some of the most interesting results that took place during the week in Western Europe.

The second week of the 2021-2022 DPC in Western Europe is over, and we got to see another set of unique Dota 2 games. Some of the best teams in the world had to go toe to toe yet again after batting last week.

Certain teams did well, whereas, others — like Nigma Galaxy, have to change ASAP if they want to achieve something this season. With that being said, here's some of the most interesting things that happened over the week.

Division I

The teams in Division I tend to be on the more interesting side because they consist of some of the best players in the world. Let’s take a brief overview of everything that happened in each series.

Tundra Esports vs Nigma Galaxy

The week kicked off with a series between Adrian “Fata” Trinks and his teammates and TI 7 champions. Despite being the favorites in their last series as well, Nigma Galaxy failed to live up to people’s expectations. Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Borislavov and the rest of his team were unable to compete at TI 10, and it seems like they still have unresolved issues, judging by their most recent results. After losing against Team Tickles, Nigma was unable to deal with Tundra Esports either.

The first game between the two Dota 2 giants was one-sided. TE had the better draft and didn’t allow Nigma’s Luna draft to work. Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasom’s intention was to use Luna and BM in order to push fast, but TE had stronger heroes and dominated the game.

After the loss, Nigma got a Morphling and hoped that their carry would be able to win the gamer for them. Although he played well, TE was able to bounce back and claimed the victory yet again. Following this painful defeat, Nigma is now last in the group with two losses out of two games. This means that the team must win its next match if it wants to have any chances of succeeding.

Team Liquid vs OG

The second series was also highly anticipated and exciting to watch. Both teams went through massive roster changes (OG has an entirely new roster), so no one knew what to expect. Although TI 8 & TI 9 champions were considered the favorites, they failed to win the series because Liquid played really well.

The first game favored OG because they had a perfect draft. The team had the chance to play Templar Assassin yet again, which gave them a huge advantage over their opponents. Liquid tried to bounce back several times, but in the end, OG was victorious.

Sadly, game two and three did not favor Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov and co. OG tried to get interesting heroes for game two, but Liquid had a solid pick and didn’t allow their opponents to do anything.

The third game was the most interesting to watch because we saw a Divine Rapier and a game that lasted 74-minutes. As you can expectèd from every game that is over one hour long, there were numerous comebacks and epic fights. OG seemed like the favorite, but once Lasse Aukusti “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen and his Wraith King got a few items, the hero became almost impossible to kill. In the end, he was able to deliver the knock-out punch and gave Liquid the victory.

Coolguys vs Team Tickles

Team Tickles continues to be one of Divison I's driving forces after winning yet another series. Following their success against Nigma, the team had the task of facing Coolguys, the second squad that came from the Lower Division.

Thanks to the momentum on their side, Team Tickles absolutely ripped through their opponents. Both games lasted for less than 30-minutes thanks to TT's amazing picks. They utilized their roster’s full potential.

Team Liquid vs Team Tickles

Although some Dota 2 fans didn’t expect this to be a must-watch series; after both teams’ victories, it was time to determine which one would gain first place in Division I. Even though it wasn’t easy, Team Liquid managed to deliver their knock-out punch after three exciting games.

The first map between the two squads was definitely the more interesting one. Both teams had good drafts, which is why the map was a little over 40-minutes long. Although TT seemed to have a better draft for the late game, Team Liquid played their cards well and secured the lead in the series.

TT didn’t give up despite the loss and needed only 23-minutes to win game two. They’ve decided to change their draft, which allowed them to do more damage early on. Liquid was unable to deal with the pressure and had no other choice but to call GG and push the series into a game three.

Everyone expected the decider to be intriguing, but Liquid’s powerful BM and Luna draft made it one-sided. Both teams had their chances, but MATUMBAMAN and his teammates were better and managed to win.

Team Secret vs Tundra Esports

The last series in the Upper Division for the week was between Team Secret and Team Tundra. We expected to see a fast victory from TS, but instead, we had the chance to witness three games, each of which laster for almost an hour.

The series was interesting because Tundra gained a lead after their victory in game one. Although TS had a strong draft, they were unable to utilize their potential, which gave Tundra Esports the time to bounce back and win.

Fortunately for Secret’s fans, one of WEU’s best teams didn’t make the same mistakes in games two and three. Although it was not easy (both of them lasted for 55 minutes), Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and the rest showed everyone why they are among the best teams in Europe.

Division II

The games in Division I were amazing to watch — but that doesn’t mean Division II was boring. Here is a quick overview of what happened.

Entity vs Ghost Frogs

GF has one of the most promising rosters in this division, but it was unable to deal with Entity. Remco “Crystallis” Arets needed this victory because they lost the first series last week against Brame. This time, Entity didn’t allow their opponents to take advantage of their mistakes.

Game one was one-sided, which is why it only lasted for just over 20-minutes. After the loss, Ghost Frogs wanted to show their prowess, which is why they’ve picked several interesting heroes. Sadly, even they were not enough to withstand the pressure from Entity.

No Bounty Hunter vs Into The Breach

The second series in Division II favored ITB after three interesting games. Despite securing a lead in the series, ITB was unable to win the second game, which pushed the series into yet another three games deathmatch.

The third map was probably the most interesting one because ITB picked Viper, a hero that we often don’t see. It seems like the ranged carry caught its opponents off guard because the hero helped ITB win the series.

Chicken Fighters vs CHILLAX

Chicken Fighters and CHILLAX are two of the most interesting teams in Division II, so the clash between them was interesting to watch. Both teams won their first series in Divison II, so the clash between them was hard to predict. Although CHILLAX had some advantages (especially in game two), Duško “BoraNija” Boranijaševic and his fellas won both games. This secured them a second win in Division II, which makes CF one of the favorites.

Team Bald Reborn vs Entity

After their first victory, the second series of the week for Entity was yet another success, but this time, they had to overcome TBR. Both games were really fast, but the first one will probably hold the record in this DPC. Entity needed just 13-minutes and 39-seconds to demolish their opponents. This was one of the games where nothing went in favor of Team Bald Reborn, so they decided to cancel their agony and focus on game two.

Sadly, the second game in the series was not good either because Entity’s Spirit Breaker and Queen of Pain dominated TBR. The EU roster had no chances of succeeding and had no other option but to admit its defeat.

Into The Breach vs Chicken Fighters

The last series of the week in Division II also favored Chicken Fighters, which makes them the first team with three victories. Although they won, this victory was not easy because CF had to go through three games.

Following the loss in the first one, Charlie “CharlieDota” Arat and the rest picked Storm Spirit two times in a row and managed to win. The second game lasted a little over 40-minutes, whereas the third one was under 30-minutes.
