The Fragadelphia 15 tournament, taking place from September 10-12 in Philadelphia, PA, will feature a $60,000 prize pool. The top four winners from the event will compete against four invited North American CS:GO teams like GODSENT, Extra Salt and paiN for an invitation to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown. This will create a wonderful opportunity for small organizations to break into the major scene.
Steve Csikos, Vice President of Esports Operations and Strategy at Nerd Street Gamers explained:
“Nerd Street partnering with BLAST Premier to host an official qualifier at Fragadelphia not only increases the level of integrity for this homegrown LAN tournament, which began right here in Philadelphia but continues to elevate esports across the United States and North America.”
According to Csikos, the American organizations have immense talent and it will excite everyone to see who comes out of the qualifiers to compete at the global event.
Event qualifiers
Nerd Street is also working on creating qualifiers similar to this. According to the release, the qualifiers will see eight teams feeding into the Spring Showdown & eight feeding into the Fall Showdown. This creates even more opportunities for the young talents and teams.
Andrew Haworth, Commissioner for BLAST Premier shared his thoughts on the partnership:
“North America is a hugely important region for Counter-Strike and BLAST Premier – it was vital for us to include a route into our Fall Showdown so organizations from the region get an opportunity to perform on a global scale.”
The professional CS:GO scene in NA has a long way to go, especially when compared to Europe. However, esports companies along with tournament organizers who offer partnerships and developments definitely help Counter-Strike become a strong title in the competitive ecosystem.
