A look at the teams going into intense competition in the playoffs.
With the conclusion of DreamHack Masters group stages, the qualifying teams will now face each other in the playoff bracket. Sixteen teams battled each other in the past few days, out of which only six teams stayed in the competition. Losers of the Upper Bracket and winners of the Lower Bracket will face each other in the Quarterfinals. Meanwhile, the winners of the Upper Bracket games have booked their spots directly in the Semis.
Quarterfinals
G2 Esports vs Astralis
After losing to Gambit in the second round of Upper Bracket, G2 had to overcome tough opponents Virtus.pro in the Lower Bracket to secure their places in the Quarterfinals. Astralis had a pretty good run in the early stages before losing to Heroic in the third round of Upper Brackets. G2 will need to pull their best game if they wish to defeat the Danish side, who have had the upper hand in previous encounters.
FURIA Esports vs Natus Vincere
An early defeat against BIG forced FURIA to hustle their way in the Lower Brackets. However, the Brazilian team did not give up, and after defeating Complexity and Team Vitality, they qualified for the Quarterfinals. Furia will now face Na'Vi, who have only lost to Gambit in the last round. This could be Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s chance to get revenge for the ESL Pro League Season 13 defeat in the group stages.
Semifinals
Gambit Esports
Gambit has continued its dominant form in recent competitions. They are unbeaten after facing some tough opponents like Natus Vincere and G2 Esports. The Quarterfinals will decide which team they will face in their journey to the trophy. Overall, they look pretty strong after their battle with Na'Vi in the 2-1 victory on Dust 2, Overpass and Mirage.
Heroic
Heroic is on fire and has only improved in the last tournaments. The Danish team is unbeaten with their recent victory against Astralis in a 2-0 clean sweep on Nuke and Inferno. They look to continue their hunt for more trophies after their recent emphatic win in the Grand Finals of ESL Pro League Season 13 competition.
