Berlin Major Champions Gaimin Gladiators’ TI12 Spot Still Unconfirmed

Gaimin Gladiators cruised to the Berlin Major title, but they are yet to secure a TI12 spot

Gaimin Gladiators have done it again! They have won the ESL One Berlin Major, defeating Team Liquid in an epic all-Western European Grand Final with a 3-1 scoreline. This is their second Major victory in a row, having previously claimed the Lima Major in Tour 1 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC). Their impressive performance has earned them a cash prize of $200K USD and 500 DPC points.

But A TI12 Spot Is Still Not Confirmed?

Gaimin Gladiators must be disappointed to learn that their recent victory at the Berlin Major might not be enough to secure them a spot at The International 2023. The Berlin Major provided them with a whopping 500 DPC points, bringing their total haul to 1240 points. Unfortunately, this still falls short of the number needed to secure a direct invite to TI12. While the team's chances are high, there are unique circumstances that could potentially put them out of contention.

Prominent Dota2 stats analyst Ben “Noxville” Steenhuisen says the freshly crowned Berlin Major champions might have to wait until the end of DPC Tour 3 to make the cut for The International 12.

Interestingly, Team Liquid, who lost the Berlin Major final to GG, have already qualified for TI12.  It's a case of the tortoise and the hare, with Team Liquid slowly but steadily collecting DPC points throughout the season and securing their spot at The International 2023. The runner-up dominated the WEU Regional Leagues, winning both Tour 1 and Tour 2, while Gaimin Gladiators struggled during the WEU debacle. Even though the latter won two Majors, it wasn't enough to close the gap between both teams' total DPC points.

The Gaimin Gladiators camp, however, will be confident of picking up sufficient DPC points to confirm TI12 qualification. The Bali Major, with its lucrative DPC points, is still up for grabs, and the co-founder of Gaimin Gladiators has stated that they're confident in their ability to win another Major.
