Benjyfishy’s Trio Accuses World Cup Champ Aqua’s Trio Of Stream Sniping During FNCS

A significant controversy developed during Europe’s Fortnite Champion Series week three qualifier.

Fortnite World Cup Champion Aqua and teammates Noahreyli and Rezon stand accused of stream sniping benjyfishy, MrSavage and LeTsHe in FNCS Chapter 2 – Season 4. The two teams regularly land and fight at Doom's Domain – the popular Marvel Comics-themed location introduced earlier this season. The battle between Aqua, Rezon and Noahreyli and benjyfishy, MrSavage and LeTsHe began in Chapter 2 – Season 4. It continues to this day, where the feud escalated into stream and queue sniping accusations during week three Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) semi-finals.

First Case of Alleged Stream Sniping and Rule Breaking

After already securing qualification into the week three finals, Aqua and company encountered their adversaries – Benjy, MrSavage and LeTsHe – in a pivotal game. That game would factor significantly into whether or not Benjy's trio would reach the week three Grand Finals. Benjyfishy, MrSavage and LeTsHe eventually overcame Aqua, Noahreyli and Rezon. The fight ended with Aqua allegedly leaving the game during a shakedown attempt. Fortnite's shakedown mechanic reveals the location of all players on a single team. This incident fueled the fire that took place in the next match.

Final Game Showdown

The final game proved even more crucial, considering Benjy and his teammates only had 107 points. History repeated itself once again. Aqua, Noahreyli and Rezon made it into Benjy's final match, meaning there would be another showdown and Doom's Domain. Benjy, Savage, and LeTsHe lost the upper hand, forcing them to rotate out of the powerful Marvel POI to preserve a potential finals qualification. Aqua, Noahreyli and Rezon w-keyed their opponents looking to impose their will. They pursued Benjy into Salty Springs and wiped his entire trio within seconds.

Stream and Queue Sniping Accusations

Benjy, MrSavage and LeTsHe needed 131 points to qualify but ultimately finished with only 107. It was the first time these three did not reach the Grand Finals for this season's Fortnite Champion Series. It was notably devastating for a team many hyped as one of the best in all of Europe. With two straight questionable engagements in a row, Benjy, Savage and LeTsHe accused Aqua and his teammates of stream sniping. MrSavage voiced his outrage on stream after falling to Aqua in the most critical game of his team's week three FNCS endeavor.

“So, they're getting banned,” said MrSavage after the game concluded. “If they're not getting banned I'm truly retiring from this game. I don't care.” The 100 Thieves competitor proceeded to report all three players for cheating, writing “stream sniping + teammate leaves the game before shakedown so we don't get the shakedown” as the comment underneath. Benjyfishy stated his concerns about Epic potentially not banning a World Cup winner. “The fact that I have to hide my screen to queue into a game, uh, I don't even know, man.”

MrSavage rewatched the first game in question, where Aqua's game supposedly crashed. He stated, “He [Aqua] said ‘nice game crash,' but when your game crashes, it takes like a minute or something for your loot to appear.” He eventually concluded that Aqua left the game, calling him a liar for his tweet shortly after the game crash.

Before ending his stream for the day, MrSavage elaborated more on the situation. “It's so sad to see people, like actual pros that people look up to, doing this type of sh*t. It's just so weird,” spoke the 100 Thieves player. “He's [Aqua] making it so obvious as well.”

Just like that, Aqua, Rezon and Noahreyli secured their third straight FNCS Qualifier Finals appearance, but not without controversy. They will now land at Doom's Domain presumably uncontested with a strong chance of winning. Meanwhile, Benjyfishy, LeTsHe and MrSavage lie and wait, hoping to see Epic Games enforce punishment.

Will Epic Games Issue Punishment?

Competitive Fortnite analyst – somebodysgun – took to Twitter with his assessment of the situation. He notably commented on recent DreamHack events and posts VOD reviews on his YouTube channel.

“After watching the replays, there isn't any solid proof of stream sniping. Actually, it's smart of Aqua's trio to grief Benjy's trio to have Dooms for free during Finals. On the other hand, Aqua clearly left the match to prevent himself from being shaken down.”

He referenced rule 8.2 of this season's FNCS ruleset, which identifies that “Intentionally disconnecting from a match without a legitimate reason for doing so.” It would be difficult for anyone except for Epic Games to prove if Aqua intentionally disconnected from the match. There is also no clarity regarding the stream sniping allegations unless someone identified Aqua, Noahreyli or Rezon in Benjy, Savage or LeTsHe's Twitch chat. Unfortunately, Fortnite may never progress past these types of controversies in large-scale tournaments. We've seen the developer punish storm surge collusion, intentional hackers and soft aimers in FNCS tournaments. Epic usually takes its time to review these cases, so we will likely know sometime next week if they discipline Aqua and his teammates.
