Astralis Welcomes Kasper Hansen as New Sports Director

Esports organization Astralis has announced the appointment of Kasper Straube Hansen as its new Sports Director following the departure of Kasper Hvidt

Astralis has filled the vacant position of Sports Director with the appointment of Kasper Straube Hansen. Kasper Hvidt previously held the role until late June, when the organization and Hvidt mutually decided to part ways due to disappointing results after a six-year collaboration.

Originally scheduled to assume the position on October 1, Straube's arrival was expedited as he recently left his previous role at Heroic. Astralis confirmed his early start in a press release on Friday.

The addition of a new Sports Director comes amidst a series of changes within Astralis, particularly in relation to their CS:GO team. The organization saw the departure of Kasper Hvidt and Head Analyst Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen. Subsequently, long-time in-game leader Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander was benched, while Victor “Staehr” Staehr and Johannes “b0RUP” Borup were signed to the lineup.

Kasper Straube Hansen, who has a physiotherapy and performance management background, has assumed the role of Sports Director at Astralis. He previously worked at Heroic starting in 2021 as the team's physiotherapist and performance coach, accompanying them to various tournaments. In November 2022, he transitioned to the position of Head of Performance within the organization.

Anders Hørsholt, CEO of Astralis, expressed his contentment, stating how pleased he was that everything had fallen into place, allowing Kasper Straube to assume the role of Sports Director in the organization immediately. He added that Kasper brings a wealth of experience from his time at Heroic, where he held various positions, including Head of Performance for the Counter-Strike team.

Straube officially started his new position as Sports Director at Astralis today, on July 8. The organization looks forward to his contributions and anticipates the positive impact he will have as they strive for continued success in the esports industry.
