Armored Core 6 PVP Explained

Been wondering about Armored Core 6 PVP? Here is everything you need to know about the best part of Armored Core 6.

You may not know it yet, but Armored Core 6‘s PVP mode is what you're really here for. And you could even go as far as saying that your first 3 runs (that are required to get all the endings) are just the extended tutorial for the real meat of Armored Core.

It's also one of the reasons why the starved but very much alive Armored Core community suddenly crept out of their crypt and celebrated this release. Out of fear that they'll have to wait another 10 years for the next one to be released. Lucky for them Armored Core 6's PVP is excellent and easily accessible on all platforms.

So here is everything you need to know about it.

How to Unlock Armored Core 6 PVP

Unlock Armored Core 6 PVP

You'll unlock Armored Core 6's PVP automatically after completing Chapter 2 Mission 14 “Ocean Crossing”. The PVP move is locked behind a section in the hangar menu called “NEST”.

How does PVP Work in Armored Core 6?

Unlike other FromSoft titles, Armored Core 6 doesn't have any matchmaking. Instead, you create or join a room with the NEST menu which can then be sorted by various factors. Here you can also invite or be invited to PVP sessions with the various friend-list features of the different platforms or lock your room with a password.

You can then set a map and what match type should be played. Currently, you can only play 1v1 or 3v3 matches. Up to 9 players can join a room and play or spectate the matches. You even set options for the room, like “Loser Rotates” turning it into a King of the Hill situation or set plays.

In a room, you'll still have access to the ASSEMBLY menu from the hangar. This means you can rebuild or load up your mechs as long as you already have the parts. You can also share your creations with other players and chat.

Armored Core 6 PVP Modes

Armored Core 6 PVP Modes

There are currently only 2 playable modes in Armored Core 6's PVP. One is a straight 1v1 duel where two players duke it out against each other in best of 3 matches.

The other is the 3v3 mode which could best be described as Team Deathmatch. Each team gets a set number of tickets which represent respawns, that have to be reduced or depleted by the enemy team before the timer runs out.

Please note that you can only change builds after a match is over, you won't be able to adapt builds on the fly in between rounds.

Armored Core 6 PVP Builds

Armored Core 6 PVP Builds

We hate to tell you but figuring out a build in Armored Core 6 for PVP is a learning experience. The game is still early into its life cycle, so we haven't seen a Meta being developed yet. But you expect that to change soon.

In Armored Core, certain types of weapons and parts are a hard counter to others. So to succeed in PVP, you want to build a diverse roster of Mech's that can handle other players with ease. The point of PVP in Armored Core 6 isn't just to mercilessly stomp others into the ground (but it is fun!), but to take inspiration from others' builds and fine-tune your own.

The game is fairly well-balanced in a way that most if not all weapon types are viable in any combat situation. But we do recommend you play through the entire game at least twice and chase down the optional parts.

And that sums up everything you need to know about Armored Core 6's PVP. You find everything you need to know about Builds here and Combat Tips to give you an edge here.
