New York Fortnite players will have a chance to win big money in a regional online tournament series!

Competitive Fortnite continues to heat up after recent competitive announcements involving DreamHack, a season three competition update and Daily Trios Cups. Epic Games’ partnerships continue with esports organization Andbox. The New York-based franchise made a huge announcement today, which focuses on Fortnite players in the New York metro area.

The tournament, dubbed Battle of the Boroughs, welcomes competitors from eight New York sub-regions to represent their specific area in an online competition. Battle of the Boroughs will feature a $50K USD prize, which players can earn in various ways.

What to expect

Andbox’s Chief Product Officer and Co-Founder, Rohit Gupta, released a statement in coordinance with this massive announcement for New York-area Fortnite competitors:

“New York is home to some of the most fiercely competitive people in the world, and they’re never shy about letting others know their neighborhood is the greatest.”

“We created Battle of the Boroughs as a new platform to give local communities across the New York area a way to showcase their skills and ultimately see them propelled to greater heights as a representative of the greatest city in the world. We’re incredibly excited to be kicking this off with Fortnite.”

Andbox’s website features a description of what the tournament entails, as well as what’s at stake for both players and viewers:
