The Rock Teases Fortnite Crossover In Recent ZOA Energy Drink Ad

The People’s Champ cryptically references Fortnite Battle Royale in a ZOA Energy drink commercial.

Former WWE superstar and current Hollywood actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teased a collaboration today in a random Twitter post. While promoting his new ZOA Energy drink brand, The Rock released a video where he references Fortnite. Also, in the video, a helmet worn by an essential character in the game’s storyline appeared. With Fortnite Chapter 3 due for release in the coming weeks, it seems Epic Games’ impressive marketing is officially underway.

Fortnite x The Rock

Contrary to what some people may think, this collaboration has been in the works for some time. Leaked court documents during Fortnite’s lawsuit against Apple showcased plans for a crossover with the former WWE superstar. No details were revealed beyond a picture of The Rock himself, but the image struck a curious nerve within Fortnite followers.

The Hollywood actor’s promotional tweet about ZOA Energy contained several references to Fortnite that are impossible to ignore. For one, he mentions the word Zero Point—a critical object in Fortnite’s complex narrative. He also references a strategy known as High Ground that many players utilize to earn victories. The icing on the cake was when The Rock opened his ZOA Energy freezer, where The Foundation’s helmet appears clear as day.

For those who aren’t aware, The Foundation is a character’s in Fortnite’s universe as the leader of a group known as The Seven. This faction has surfaced during events and in the game’s lore since early in Chapter 1. The Foundation last appeared in the Fortnite x Batman comic series and figures to play a significant role in Chapter 2’s “The End” event.

What Does it Mean?

Fortnite characters walk along an empty road toward a blazing eye in the sky, the words "Fortnite Chapter 2 Finale The End" appear in blue and white at their feet

Other than Epic Games and maybe The Rock, no knows what this energy drink promotion means in the grand scheme. However, it’s most certainly no coincidence that this tease happened ahead of Fortnite Chapter 3. It could mean The Rock is The Foundation, or perhaps it’s Epic’s way of informing the fans that he will become an in-game skin next season.

Whatever the case may be, The Rock’s Fortnite references have people talking. Sure, it’s a bizarre crossover, but there’s no doubt it’ll be interesting to see what unfolds in the coming days. There could be more teasers leading up to the chapter-ending event this weekend, so we’ll be sure to keep an eye out and update accordingly!
