Starfield skills: All social skills explained
The 82 skills that can be used in Starfield are divided into five groups based on how they function: tech, combat, physical, science, and social. You need to be aware of this since it is crucial. A total of four unique skill tiers, each of which is further broken into four ranks, are included in each category. Tier 1 social skills

Commerce

- Rank 4: Occasional creation of food and drink requires no resource consumption. Exotic cuisines can be created after doing research.
Persuasion
- Rank 1: 10% greater likelihood of influencing someone.
- Rank 2: 20% greater likelihood of influencing someone.
- Rank 3: 30% greater likelihood of influencing someone.
- Rank 4: 50% greater likelihood of influencing someone.
Scavenging
- Rank 1: There's a possibility that scanning containers will turn up more credits.
- Rank 2: There's a possibility that checking containers will turn up extra ammunition.
- Rank 3: There is a possibility that searching containers will turn up extra medical supplies or pharmaceuticals.
- Rank 4: When scanning with the hand scanner, tracked resources will be highlighted.
Theft
- Rank 1: Gain access to the pickpocketing feature.
- Rank 2: 10% increased likelihood of picking pockets.
- Rank 3: 30% increased likelihood of picking pockets.
- Rank 4: 50% increased likelihood of picking pockets. can now steal firearms from holsters.
Tier 2 social skills
The Tier 2 Starfield social skills feature one more addition to what we saw for the previous Tier. Thanks to these skills, your ships are more powerful, you will have the power to more successfully convince an NPC to stop fighting, as well as you will also be better at negotiating, being intimidating towards your opponents and your spacesuits will have the ability to have improved stats.
Deception
- Rank 1: Ships that are 10% more powerful immediately submit to pirate demands. The effectiveness of enemy contraband scans is 10% lower.
- Rank 2: Ships that are 20% more powerful immediately submit to pirate demands. The effectiveness of enemy contraband scans is 20% lower.
- Rank 3: Ships that are 30% stronger will automatically submit to pirate demands. The efficacy of enemy contraband scans is reduced by 30%.
- Rank 4: Ships that are 50% more powerful immediately submit to pirate demands. The efficacy of enemy contraband scans is reduced by 50%.
Diplomacy
- Rank 1: You have the ability to make a target NPC who is at your level or lower temporarily stop fighting.
- Rank 2: You can make a target NPC who is up to 10 levels superior to you cease fighting temporarily.
- Rank 3: You can persuade a target NPC who is up to 20 levels higher than you to take a break from combat.
- Rank 4: Target NPCs can be made to cease fighting indefinitely (unless they are attacked again).
Intimidation
- Rank 1: For a brief period of time, you can make a target NPC who is your level or lower run away.
- Rank 2: For a brief period of time, you can make a target NPC who is up to 10 levels higher than you run away.
- Rank 3: For a brief period of time, you can make a target NPC that is up to 20 levels higher level than you escape.

Isolation
- Rank 1: When you are alone and without crew, your weapon damage increases by 10%, and you get 15 damage resistance points for each spacesuit and helmet you are wearing.
- Rank 2: When you are alone and without crew, your weapon damage increases by 20%, and you get 30 damage resistance points for each spacesuit and helmet you are wearing.
- Rank 3: When you don't have a friend or any crew, it gives you +30% weapon damage and +45 damage resistance for each spacesuit and helmet you have on.
- Rank 4: When you are alone and without crew, your weapon damage increases by 40%, and you get 60 damage resistance points for each spacesuit and helmet you are wearing.
Negotiation
- Rank 1: Bribery in speech tasks are now available to you.
- Rank 2: Cuts the cost of bribing by 25%.
- Rank 3: Cuts the cost of bribing by half.
- Rank 4: There are times when bribing is free.
Tier 3 social skills
The Starfield social skills present in Tier 3 are more related to the possibility of deceiving your enemies. Thanks to them, in fact, you will be able to instigate your enemies to attack each other and you will also have greater influence on your companions. Furthermore, the management of your outposts will also benefit from these skills.
Instigation
- Rank 1: For a brief period of time, you can make a target NPC your level or lower attack their teammates.
- Rank 2: For a brief period of time, you can force an NPC target that is up to 10 levels higher leveled than you to attack their teammates.
- Rank 3: For a brief period of time, you can force an NPC target that is up to 20 levels higher leveled than you to attack their teammates.
- Rank 4: Until their comrades are killed, enemies under the influence of incitement will attack them.
Leadership
- Rank 1: Companions build affinity 25% more quickly.
- Rank 2: Companions are capable of carrying 50 kg more and have 50 more health.
- Rank 3: When your health is low, companions will sometimes heal you.
- Rank 4: Doubles the benefits of physical crew skills and combat bonuses for companions. The opportunity exists for companions to recover from a downed state.
Outpost Management
- Rank 1: Outposts can be equipped with extra freight linkages.
- Rank 2: Outposts have the ability to build extra robots.
- Rank 3: Outposts may be given access to additional staff.
Outpost extractors are twice as productive at rank four.
Tier 4 social skills
The Starfield social skills present in Tier 4 are the ones that will be very useful to you in the advanced stages of the game. Thanks to these skills you will be able to manipulate your enemies, you will have the possibility to interface with alien creatures with greater success and you will be able to have more crew members active at the same time.
Manipulation
- Rank 1: For a brief period of time, you can compel a target NPC to follow your instructions.
- Rank 2: For a brief period of time, you can force an NPC that is up to 10 levels higher than you to follow orders.
- Rank 3: For a brief period of time, you can force an NPC that is up to 20 levels higher than you to follow orders.
- Rank 4: Targets that have been manipulated now comply with orders over a long period of time.
Ship Command
- Rank 1: You may have up to four active crew members.
- Rank 2: You are allowed a crew of five active members.
- Rank 3: You are allowed a crew of six active individuals.
- Rank 4: Up to eight crew members may be active.
Xenosociology
- Rank 1: You have the ability to temporarily block an extraterrestrial adversary who is up to 10 levels superior to you from engaging in combat.
- Rank 2: You have the ability to temporarily make an alien species that is up to 10 levels superior than you flee.
- Rank 3: For a brief period of time, you can drive an alien species as powerful as 10 levels higher than you to fight their comrades.
- Rank 4: For a brief period of time, you can make an alien adversary up to 10 levels more powerful than you obey your commands.
