At the beginning of 2019, Blizzard and Overwatch Contenders announced a series of events that are meant to expand the Contender's experience. The Overwatch Contenders Pacific and Atlantic Showdowns featured the best teams from each region facing off for the chance to crown themselves king of Contenders.
The Atlantic and Pacific Showdown were the first Overwatch Contenders live events where teams from across different regions went head to head. The #1 teams in both the American and Korea Region will automatically have a spot in The Gauntlet Finals. The remaining eight teams will fight in the Group Stage and attempt to take down the Korea Contender giants. In a surprising turn of events, it is rumored that OGN may be running production for The Gauntlet.

OGN use to run the famed APEX competitions that all of the old school Overwatch fans loved. OGN does stellar production for their events and the atmosphere of APEX matches was unmatched to even the Blizzard Arena at times. This rumor comes from Reddit and was pulled from Flowervin's stream, and was rumored to have been leaked by none other than Dae-hoon “Runner” Yoon. Runner is a former Overwatch player who left to fulfill mandatory military service. OGN has been helping Contenders Korea grow and put on full-fledged events, so hopefully, they will do justice by Contender's first-ever finals series. Tickets will go on sale for The Gauntlet on September 9th at 2 am Pacific or 6 pm KST. and are available online here.
