Overview
Before we point out some of the things you should follow in this Overwatch 2 Echo Guide, we’d like to start by pointing out the changes to this hero. As mentioned, Echo is among the few DPS heroes that received a couple of nerfs.
Starting with the most annoying thing, the hero’s Duplicate Ultimate now gives Echo’s duplicate a maximum of 300 HP. This wouldn’t matter if you want to use it on a DPS or support, but you won’t be able to copy a tank’s full HP.
Aside from her ult, Echo’s Focusing Beam is not as deadly as before. This ability now deals 175 DPS instead of 200 damage per second. The nerf might not seem significant, but it impacts Echo’s ability to finish a target.
Try to utilize your range
Since Echo is one of the Overwatch 2 heroes that can fly, many of the things mentioned in the Pharah guide also apply here. One of them is related to the fact that you have to be careful because there are loads of counters. Widowmaker, Cassidy, and Sojourn are just some of the names you should be aware of.
The good thing about Echo is that the hero can deal much damage from a distance. She is one of the best when it comes down to spamming damage. This will allow you to get your ultimate up and running, which is what you should always aim for.
Another important thing to keep in mind when talking about doing damage is that you should focus on DPS and Supports. Echo is a hero that can deal a lot of burst damage, which means you can blow up an unsuspecting target. People who learn how to play Echo will quickly realize that this is not possible with tanks because they are incredibly hardy in Overwatch 2.
Echo excels at executing targets
There are other Overwatch 2 DPS heroes that also do a lot of damage, but Echo is in a league of her own regarding killing a target. Despite the nerf to her Focusing Beam, this ability can kill every low HP target in seconds. That’s why you should always look for opportunities to use it and kill a given enemy.
Before using your beam to kill a target, you must do everything possible to land your sticky bombs. Although this might take practice, landing all 3 of them, followed by a couple of your primary fire shots, will be enough to land a kill. If that doesn’t bring a target down, you can also use your beam to finish it.
Using your ultimate
Echo’s ultimate is probably one of the most underrated abilities in the game. At the same time, it is one of the strongest ones because it allows you to copy other heroes and have access to their abilities. Furthermore, you charge your ult much faster than usual, meaning you can use the given hero’s ult within a couple of seconds.
Following the Overwatch 2 changes regarding Echo’s ult, you must be more careful when using it on a tank. The fact that you only have 300 HP means you have to think carefully about whether using the given ability is worth it. The Overwatch 2 tanks are solid right now, but there are situations where it is better to copy a DPS or support. It all comes down to your situation, teammates, enemies, etc.
Regardless of which target your copy, one of the first things you should do is start doing damage/healing so you can get your ult up. Duplicate only lasts for a couple of seconds, so you need to use your copied targets’ Ult as soon as possible.
Sometimes, you want to use your ult on heroes that have very powerful ultimates., Zarya is a really good example, especially in Overwatch 2. She is one of the strongest tanks right now, so having access to her ult can make a huge difference.
Echo best Combos
One of the important things we have to cover in this Overwatch 2 Echo Guides is related to the combos. Even though this is not a hero that works in every situation, there are certain names that she can work well with. One of them is Mercy, a hero that can save Echo and provide her with tons of extra damage.
The Mercy-Echo combo is similar to the one with Pharah. However, this one is slightly more difficult for Mercy because Echo has to be more aggressive and play mid-range to use her beam. This means that both heroes are easier to kill.
Roadhog is another hero that can be surprisingly effective when paired with Echo. These two don’t have much in common, but Road’s hook allows Echo to land easy kills. As soon as the deadly tank lands his combo, Echo can kill the target with her beam in seconds.
Junkrat is another hero who works well with Echo for the reasons mentioned above. He is one of the best regarding spamming damage, which means that his enemies are constantly on low HP. This is good news for Echo because she can kill them in no time.
