The Overwatatch 2 balance patch is in Season 9 is here, and there are a lot of things to talk about. Let’s begin.
The Overwatch 2 February 21 update is the first big change after the arrival of Overwatch 2 Season 9, and it contains several hero changes. To be honest, we are not surprised that these changes are taking place because some heroes felt extremely strong after the arrival of the new update. Let’s go over everything in the Overwatch 2 retail patch notes.
Overwatch 2 Balance Patch – Season 9
As mentioned, the latest update from Blizzard includes small hero changes. We will go over each one.
D.Va
The first hero affected by the Overwatch 2 hot fix is D.Va.
- This is one of the tanks in Overwatch 2 Season 9 that got nerfed because her Light Gun’s base projectile size is now down from 0.25 to 0.2. Also, her projectile size is now 0.3.
Roadhog
Instead of testing a nerf, the most recent Overwatch 2 Season 9 hotfix actually gave Roadhog a buff.
- Take a Breather now increases the damage reduction by 50% instead of 40%.
Zarya
The last tank that was affected in the Overwatch 2 balance patch was Zarya.
- The hero’s particle Cannon’s minimum damage is now 95 instead of 85 per second, and the maximum is up to 190 instead of 170.
Hanzo
Moving to the DPS, the first one to receive changes in the Overwatch 2 February 21 update is Hanzo.
- His base projectile size is reduced from 0.1 to 0.075. Also, his total projectile size is now 0.175.
Junkrat
One of the heroes that we did not put high on our Overwatch 2 Season 9 DPS tier list is Junkrat. The hero felt a bit weird to play, which is one of the reasons why he received 3 buffs in the Overwatch 2 balance patch.
- Junkrat’s Concussion Mine now has a 7s cooldown, and it deals up to 120 and a minimum of 55 damage.
Soldier: 76
- Soldier’s Heavy Pulse Rigle now has a smaller meter scan, and the projectile size is now 0.05 meters.
Tracer
- In terms of Traver, the Overwatch 2 hot fix patch reduced the minimum falloff range from 12 to 10.
Widowmaker
One of the heroes whose hitscan was also affected in the Overwatch 2 Balance Patch in Season 9 is Widowmaker.
- The hero now uses the 0.05-meter hitscan, but the good news is that there’s an upgrade. Her scoped shot damage falloff min-max range is now 50-70 meters instead of 40-60 meters.
Illari
Illari is one of the supports in Overwatch 2 Season 9 that also received some changes. In fact, she is the hero with most of the new things following the Feb 21 update.
- Her Healing Pylon now has a 6s CD instead of 8s.
- The CD, when destroyed by enemies, is now 12 seconds instead of 15 seconds.
- Captive Sun’s Sunstruck explosion damage is 160 instead of 100
- Captive Sun’s Sunstuck explosion now has a damage falloff of up to 25%.
Lucio
The Overwatch 2 balance patch did not change much about Lucio besides is Base Projectile.
- His base projectile size is 0.1 instead of 0.15, and the total projectile size is 0.25 meters.
Mercy
Up next on the Overwatch 2 Balance Patch is Mercy.
- Her base projectile size is now 0.2 instead of 0.25, and the total size is 0.3m
Zenyatta
Lastly, we have Zenyatta, and he got a pretty big hit.
- The hero’s base HP is now 75 instead of 100
- Snap Kick’s knockback is down by 25%
Conclusion
We believe these changes will have a minor effect on the Overwatch 2 Season 9 meta. However, some of the heroes that people used to “insta lock” will most likely change. We’ll keep an eye on the meta and update you.
