Lethal Company is a trending co-op survival indie horror game that was published on October 24, 2023, by the developer, Zeekeerss and the game is currently in early access. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic and retrofuturistic dystopian world. An anonymous corporate organization named the “Company” hires players on a contract to explore abandoned and industrialized moons to collect scraps for sale and meet a profit quota every 3 days. During these exploration adventures on the moons, players have to go through many experiences including facing monsters and being lost amongst many other things.
Now, oddly enough, Lethal Company has an interesting mechanic that accumulates all these features to create something known as “Insanity” which increases by levels. The levels of insanity increase based on many different factors and it also is used by one of the most dangerous monsters in the game. Insanity Level in Lethal Company
As mentioned before, the Insanity Level is a feature that is based on the experiences that a player goes through while playing the game. It also integrates the Paranoid feature into it, which is also another mechanic that some monsters use in the game. The only monster in the game that uses the Insanity feature is the Ghost Girl, who uses it to randomly pick out her victims and begin haunting them. These levels of insanity are something that has different rates and multipliers based on each factor.

Insanity Level Factors in Lethal Company
As mentioned before, the insanity feature has different factors which increase or decrease its levels. The factors also vary vastly from each other, using things that most players are unaware of doing in the game. Hence, here are all of the factors that increase the Insanity Level in Lethal Company:
- Being inside the Facility
- Being inside the Ship
- Being alone
- Being in the dark
- Being outside during the daytime
- Being outside during the nighttime, i.e., after sundown or later
- Being paranoid, i.e., turning your camera around too much which racks up the turn amount or Paranoid levels
The levels of insanity can also decreased, but there are only two factors that do so. here are all of the factors that decrease the Insanity Level in Lethal Company:
- Being near players, at least one player
- Constantly hearing other players either by being near them or through the Walkie Talkie

Now, the levels of insanity are increased or decreased by certain factors in the game, which are listed above, but how much do they increase or decrease? Well, here are all of the rates and/or multipliers for each of the factors that increase or decrease the Insanity Level in Lethal Company, divided by Single Player and Multiplayer as the rates and/or factors differ:

- Being inside the Facility: +0.5 (Increase)
- Being inside the Ship: +0.125 (Increase)
- Being outside during the daytime: -1.25 (Decrease)
- Being outside during the nighttime, i.e., after sundown or later: -1.25 (Decrease)
Here are all of the rates and/or multipliers for each of the factors that increase or decrease the Insanity Level in Lethal Company while playing with other people:
- Being inside the Facility: +0.8 (Increase)
- Being inside the Ship: +0.2 (Increase)
- Being outside during the daytime: +0.3 (Increase)
- Being outside during the nighttime, i.e., after sundown or later: +0.5 (Increase)
- Being near players or by constantly hearing them by being near them or through the Walkie Talkie: -3.0 (Decrease)
