How to Fast Travel Across Khazad-dûm in Return To Moria
Early on in the game, you can learn fast travel. After setting up your first camp at the end of the tutorial, there's a Ruined Mapstone to fix. A message will let you know that you can find or build another to fast travel between them. So today we bring to you a guide to help you unlock this unique feature.
Unlocking Fast Travel Across Khazad-dûm In Return To Moria
Fixing a Ruined Mapstone needs specific resources, most of which you won't have at this point in the game. You'll notice that moving around in Return to Moria is slow due to limited stamina. This could also be because your character has short legs. Here's the scoop on unlocking fast travel as fast as possible in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
Repairing a Ruined Mapstone
This can be found at the first camp in the game, which is located in the tutorial area. To repair the Ruined Mapstone, you need one Black Diamond. Black Diamonds are a rare resource, but they can be found in Orkish Chests throughout Khazad-dûm.
Once you have obtained a Black Diamond, approach the Ruined Mapstone and interact with it. You will be given the option to repair it. Confirm your selection and the Ruined Mapstone will be repaired.
Once the Ruined Mapstone has been repaired, you can use it to fast travel to the Elven Quarter. The Elven Quarter is a safe haven in Khazad-dûm where you can build your own Mapstone.
Building a Mapstone
To build a Mapstone in the Elven Quarter, approach the empty Mapstone pedestal and interact with it. You will be given the option to build a Mapstone. Confirm your selection and the Mapstone will be built. You need three Black Diamonds and 20 Stone. Stone is a common resource that can be found throughout Khazad-dûm.
Once you have built a Mapstone in the Elven Quarter, you can use it to fast travel to any other Mapstone that you have activated. To activate a Mapstone, simply approach it and interact with it.
Fast travel is a convenient way to get around Khazad-dûm, but it is important to note that you can still be attacked by enemies while fast traveling. Be careful when fast traveling through dangerous areas.
Activating Mapstones
Once you have built a Mapstone in the Elven Quarter, you can start activating other Mapstones that you find throughout Khazad-dûm. To activate a Mapstone, simply walk up to it and interact with it.
When you approach a Mapstone, you will see a button prompt to interact with it. Press the button prompt to open a menu with the following options:
Activate
This will allow you to fast travel to it from any other activated Mapstone. To activate a Mapstone, simply select the “Activate” option and confirm your selection. The Mapstone will then be activated and you will be able to fast travel to it from any other activated Mapstone.
You can activate Mapstones in any order, but it is generally recommended to activate Mapstones that are located in strategic locations, such as near camps, quest objectives, and dangerous areas. This will make it easier to get around Khazad-dûm and avoid danger.
Repair
In case your Mapstone gets damaged by enemies over time you have to repair it. To repair a Mapstone, you need one Black Diamond. If a Mapstone is damaged, repair it as soon as possible.
Dismantle
This option dismantles the Mapstone, returning the resources that were used to build it. Dismantling a Mapstone can be useful if you need to relocate the Mapstone to a different location or if you need the resources that were used to build it. Dismantling a Mapstone will also deactivate it, so you will need to reactivate the Mapstone if you want to use it again.

Tips On Fast Traveling in Return To Moria
Here are a few tips to remember when fast traveling around Khazad-dûm.
- Activate Mapstones as soon as you find them. This will make it much easier to get around Khazad-dûm, especially in the early game when you don't have a lot of resources.
- Build your own Mapstones at camps that you have restored. This is a great way to save Black Diamonds, which are a valuable resource.
- Be careful when fast traveling through dangerous areas. You can still be attacked by enemies while fast traveling, so it's best to avoid fast traveling through areas that are known to be infested with enemies.
- Use Mapstones to mark your progress. When you're exploring a new area, be sure to activate any Mapstones that you find. This will allow you to fast travel back to that area later, even if you haven't yet restored a camp there.
- Use Mapstones to escape from danger. If you're being attacked by enemies, you can use a Mapstone to fast travel to a safe location. This can be a lifesaver, especially in the early game when you're still weak.
- Use Mapstones to quickly travel to quest objectives. Many quests require you to travel to specific locations. If you have a Mapstone activated near the quest objective, you can use it to fast travel there quickly and easily.
- Use Mapstones to farm resources. If you need to farm a specific resource, you can use a Mapstone to fast travel to an area where that resource is plentiful. This can save you a lot of time and effort.
