Helldivers 2 has given players the option to kill the hordes in style with their amazing character customization menu. Hence, here is how it works
Helldivers 2 is the recently released sequel to the 2015 banger, Helldivers, a top-down shooter game. However, Arrowhead Game Studious knocked it out of the park by making this sequel a third-person shooter game, alongside many other features. One of the standout features of the game is the extensive character building and customization menu. It includes everything from weapons to armor.
Here is how Character Customization works in Helldivers 2 and what customizations you can add to your character.
Helldivers 2 Character Customization
As mentioned before, the Character Customization in Helldivers 2 is extensive with lots of features. It includes weapon loadout customization, armor customization, character features customization and Stratagems customization. Unfortunately, the only physical attribute you can change of your character in the game is their body type.
To open the customization menu, you need to go up to the Armory on your Destroyer (the ship), which is located between the War Room and Ship Management. There you can open the customization menu by pressing “E” on your keyboard. Hence, here is how each of the Character Customization menus in Helldivers 2 works:
Weapon Loadout Customization
Once you open up the Character Customization menu on your ship through the Armory, the first tab you will see is “Weaponry.” Here you can change the loadout of your Weapons which you will use during your battles against filthy aliens. You can have weapons of three classes with you and those include Primary, Secondary and Grenade class of weapons. You can unlock various weapons by earning Medals in the game as you complete Orders and Operations.
The second tab that you will find on the Character Customization menu on your ship through the Armory is the “Armory” tab. Here you can change the armor of your character for gameplay benefits when you have to fight Aliens on Orders and Operations. You change your helmet, cape and full body armor which have different stats that provide gameplay benefits. These may look just like cosmetic upgrades but the stats or combat buffs provided by the armor include extra health, resistance, physical damage and defense.
Capes, helmets and full body armor can be unlocked by earning Medals in the game by completing Orders and Operations. You can also purchase them through the Acquisition on your Destroyer using Super Credits, which is the in-game currency.
Keep an eye out for limited-time offers in the Superstore because you can use them to get some amazing armor that can otherwise not be unlocked by earning Medals. You can get Super Credits by completing Personal and Major orders in the game, which will also reward you with some Medals!
Character Features Customization
The third tab that you will find on the Character Customization menu on your ship through the Armory is the “Character” tab. Here you can change the features of your character to make the gameplay feel more personalized. These features include voice packs, emotes, victory poses, player cards and titles.
There is also one physical attribute that you can customize of your character which is the body type including Lean and Brawny. There are a total of 4 voice packs including two each for female and male voices. The title part of the customization allows you to have a title that shows up alongside your username and Player Level in the game.
Emotes, victory poses and player cards can be unlocked by earning Medals in the game by completing Orders and Operations. You can also purchase them through the Acquisition on your Destroyer using Super Credits, which is the in-game currency.
Last but not least, you can change the Stratagems to have gameplay benefits suited to your playstyle. You can customize your Stratagems in the Ship Customization room by accessing the menu. Then, go to the second table which is titled as “Stratagems.” Here, you can choose up to 4 Stratagems for your gameplay. Stratagems provide players with tactical advantages with varying cooldown times on each of them. Choose the 4 Stratagems that best suit your playstyle during Orders and Operations to increase your effectiveness on the battlefield.
By reading through all of the types of customizations listed above, you will be fully equipped with the information to customize your character properly to engage in battles against the Aliens. It is advisable to customize your characters after completing one mission in the game because if you customize it earlier, an unknown bug makes the game crash. Hence, make sure to check out all the information given above about Character Customization in Helldivers 2.
