Fortnite: Weapon Mod Leaks Reveal More Of What To Expect

Leakers reveal more details regarding a potential weapon modification mechanic in Fortnite.

Fortnite leakers have a tiring job, spending hours decrypting information from the popular Battle Royale game's system files. Leaks typically result in new skins, location, tournaments, weapons or other Fortnite-related items. A significant tease occurred late last month from HYPEX and many other high-profile leakers. Epic Games had been testing weapon mods according to the game's most well-known data miner. Four weeks removed from that tidbit of information, HYPEX has revealed more details about this new in-game mechanic.

The Weapon Modification Rundown

The leaker went public on Twitter with some more details regarding Epic's planned weapon mod feature. Here is what we know so far based on the information gathered via @HYPEX and @FunGameLeaks:

  • You can add the mod & drop it anytime, it's planned to be an item
  • Weapons have specific valid mods that work with them (based on this function “PrintValidWeaponMods”)
  • Weapons have multiple mod slots

Much like fellow Battle Royale game's Call of Duty: Warzone and PUBG, Fortnite may follow a similar beat with weapon modifications. This mechanic has not existed in Fortnite's near four-year history. Naturally, there are still a lot of unanswered questions based on the details we have. Will attachments occupy inventory space? Will there be a separate menu to add/remove weapon mods? Which weapons can players add attachments to? How many attachments are allowed on each weapon?
