A painted Fortnite mural in Chicago has led many to believe that LeBron James might be on his way in the next few weeks.
A supposed Fortnite Battle Royale viral marketing campaign of sorts surfaced early this morning, depicting a painted mural in Chicago. Leakers got ahold of the information and the image began to make its rounds on Reddit before moving Twitter. Epic has not commented on the painting since the entire team is on their summer break. However, many members within the community believe it could be related to a collaboration with NBA superstar — LeBron James.
Mural in Chicago
Reddit user HostessGlazedDonut first posted the blurry image on the Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit. It depicts an artist actively painting a wall in Chicago with the words “Fortnite” and 7/14/2021 below. The meat of the image is in the mysterious wings and crown. While no physical character appears, there exists some evidence to suggest a new skin is coming to Fortnite.
Naturally, Fortnite fans across all social media platforms threw their own theories into the equation. Reputable leaker HYPEX went on Twitter with a curious connection.
King’s Bling Quest Connection
A painting was spotted in Chicago by u/HostessGlazedDonut hinting for the 14th!
There's also a painting that will appear ingame this/next week named Majesty/Grandeur & an upcoming skin with this text: "Earn rewards by completing King's Bling quests"

The leaker reposted the same image from Reddit and added his theories. He stated, “There's also a painting that will appear ingame this/next week named Majesty/Grandeur & an upcoming skin with this text: ‘Earn rewards by completing King's Bling quests.’” The rumor mill started, and there are several plausible possibilities, but one trumps all of the others.
LeBron James Collaboration?

Nobody seems to have concrete answers, but some believe this could be the recently teased LeBron James collaboration that materialized from Epic’s legal battle against Apple. The crown is the only real evidence of a possible LeBron James skin, considering his nickname “King James.” That fact, mixed with Epic resuming their break on the week of July 14 and the upcoming release of Space Jam: A New Legacy, which stars LeBron James, makes this theory plausible.
From what HYPEX said in a tweet today, we can expect more teasers through the next few weeks leading up to July 14. We’ll have to take everything with a grain of salt, but be sure to check back here for any updates on this exciting marketing campaign.
