Fortnite: How To Get The Shockwave Launcher In Season 8

The Shockwave Launcher has returned to Fortnite Battle Royale in Chapter 2 – Season 8.

This season, Epic Games introduced item votes where players invest gold in bringing back one of two items. The first battle pitted the Shockwave Launcher against the Rift-To-Go. Both items were prominent in past seasons of Fortnite, but only one could triumph. The fans have cast their votes, and the Shockwave Launcher earned a runaway victory. Epic Games has officially unvaulted the item for players to use in Season 8.

Shockwave Launcher Returns to Fortnite

The Shockwave Launcher won the first item vote, and it has returned to the game. This weapon only appeared in Chapter 2 – Season 3 as a Mythic item held by boss character Kit. While it deals no damage, the Shockwave Grenade Launcher is an efficient way to traverse Fortnite’s island, gain the height advantage over opponents and even launch them into the Storm.

It’s a versatile weapon that drops only as a Legendary weapon. Players can obtain it in regular Chests, Cosmic Chests, Supply Drops and perhaps Floor Loot per HYPEX on Twitter. There are no reports of whether the Shockwave Launcher is in Arena Mode. Nonetheless, the former Mythic item is an interesting addition to the loot pool in Season 8—one that already has multiple mobility options.

Epic has not divulged how long the Shockwave Launcher will remain in the game, but more item votes are due to occur throughout Season 8. According to leaks, the next item vote includes two entirely new weapons in Fortnite; the Recoil SMG and Recoil Assault Rifle. Epic Games has not revealed when players can start voting, but we can expect something in the following Tuesday update. We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more information.
