Fortnite: How to get the New Machine Pistol

Fortnite Battle Royale welcomed a new weapon to the loot pool this morning in Hotfix v19.20. The Machine Pistol has finally arrived.

Epic Games first added the Machine Pistol to game files in Chapter 1 Season 7. The weapon remained a mystery ever since as it never saw the light of day. It appeared sporadically in limited-time modes (LTMs) in late Chapter 1 and a few times in Chapter 2. However, Epic never officially brought the Machine Pistol into Battle Royale.

Hotfix v19.20 marked the in-game debut of Fortnite’s Machine Pistol. This update follows patch v19.20, which introduced a revamped Heavy Shotgun. Now, a new rapid-firing weapon joins the loot pool. Let’s see what the new weapon has to offer and where you can find it in Chapter 3 Season 1.

Machine Pistol Locations & Statistics

Machine Pistol

Epic’s blog post indicates that the Machine Pistol typically spawns like all others this season. You can find the weapon on the ground, in regular Chests, Rare Chests, Supply Drops, Fishing Spots and by eliminating Loot Sharks. The Machine Pistol spawns in all five rarities; Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary but does not have first-shot accuracy.

Here are the weapon’s statistics (Common-Legendary):

  • DPS: 202.5-256
  • Damage: 15-19
  • Fire Rate: 13.5-19
  • Magazine Size: 35
  • Reload Time: 2.48s-2.03s

Machine Pistol vs. Stinger SMG

The Machine Pistol bears similarities to the Stinger SMG, making it a more viable weapon in Battle Royale mode. It fires and reloads quicker than the Stinger possesses higher DPS and a larger magazine. Based on these statistics, players might opt to carry the Machine Pistol over the Stinger SMG. The weapon is not currently in competitive playlists but could join the loot pool after evaluation.

Be sure to try the new weapon out for yourself and see how it stacks up against the controversial Stinger SMG
