What is the Chapter 2 – Season 3 Fortnite Champion Series?
Fortnite’s third-ever official Fortnite Champion Series event will utilize the solo format. The tournament is open to all players who reach the Champions division in Arena Mode. After doing so, hopeful competitors will be able to queue into the competition on the official start date. Players will have four qualifiers to compete in, starting on August 1 and ending on August 9. The latest edition will include BOTH console and PC in separate tournaments.
Tournament Format and Dates
Chapter 2 – Season 3’s FNCS is a bit different from what has taken place in the past. Each qualifier grants players three separate rounds of competition. After round three, the top 50 point earners for Europe, NA East, NA West and Latin American will automatically guarantee themselves a spot in the semi-finals, also known as heats. The top 25 for Asia, Oceania and the Middle East will earn the same opportunity.
Additionally, players will have the opportunity to qualify based on their series points after all four qualifiers. The top point earners who do not place inside the top 50 in any round three will also secure a spot in heats.
The first two sessions of each qualifier will offer players a maximum of seven matches to compete over two hours. Round three of each qualifier will feature six games. You can see all four qualifier dates below:
- FNCS Qualifier 1 – August 1
- FNCS Qualifier 2 – August 2
- FNCS Qualifier 3 – August 8
- FNCS Qualifier 4 – August 9
Advancement to Stage 2
The top 50 players from each qualifier in Europe, NA East, NA West and Latin America will move into stage two. The top two-hundred players in those regions can also qualify through the previously mentioned cumulative series points. In total, 400 players will participate in stage two which will lead to heats. The top 25 from Middle East, Oceania and Asia will advance to stage two along with 100 additional players from cumulative points.
“Advancement from Stage 1 to Stage 2 will be determined by points earned at the conclusion of Stage 1 for the applicable Qualifier. Total number of advancements will differ based on server region. If a player qualifies to advance to Stage 2 more than once, the additional qualification spot(s) obtained at the later Qualifier(s) will be added to the number of available spots for the Cumulative Series Points leaderboard as calculated at the conclusion of Qualifier 4. “
Heats and the Grand Finals
Players in Europe, NA East, NA West and Latin America will separate into four heats after the qualifiers conclude. The top 25 from each heat will combine into 100 players for the Grand Finals for each of those regions. For Oceania, Asia and the Middle East, the top 25 from two separate heats will combine into the Grand Finals totaling 50 players. The Grand Finals will play out over three hours with six matches in total.
