Fortnite: Chapter 2 Season 2 Release Date Announced with Cryptic Details

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 released on October 15, 2019, to mostly positive reception from both casual and competitive players. It was a fresh start for Epic Games on their ultra-popular Battle Royale title. Chapter 2 Season 1 included new features like swimming, boats, fishing and a wholly reimagined island. Since the Fortnite Blackout spawned Chapter 2, updates to the core game have been few and far between.

Some notable inclusions throughout the last three months are a harpoon gun for a more straightforward fishing method, heavy assault rifle and that’s more or less the bulk of it. The holiday season brought a snowy map, snowmen and ice blocks that contained loot. Other than some minor adjustments, Chapter 2 Season 1 saw Epic Games dial back their constant changes from prior seasons. It appears now that the Fortnite developers are ready to unleash the new season of Fortnite Chapter 2.

Chapter 2 Season 2 Announcement

Fortnite’s Twitter account sent out a joint Tweet and statement regarding the status of the newest season of Chapter 2. Although it is not entirely informative, it does lend a little insight into what we can expect graphics-wise:

“Beginning with the release of the 11.50 update in early February, Fortnite will be moving to Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics engine. At launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite. Along the way, there will be some bumps, so we’re starting tests with a small group of players. We’ll also closely monitor feedback and make improvements over time.”

As mentioned in the blog post, testing is underway as to how these updated graphics will affect Fortnite as a whole. At the very least, we can expect enhanced graphics in Fortnite, which may or may not affect gameplay. In terms of actual content and additions in Chapter 2 Season 2, Epic Games blocked out that information:

Other than the announced date of February 20, 2020, we have no further information on what to expect next season. Seeing that Chapter 2 Season 1 began in October and still has not concluded, we will hopefully see some updated mechanics and new items added into the game. More information will come through within the next couple of weeks and we can expect to hear more details as Season 2 approaches. Until then, we will eagerly wait to see what Epic Games has in store for the next installment in Fortnite.
