Dragon's Dogma 2 Warrior Overview
As you can guess from the name, this Dragon's Dogma 2 vocation is focused on combat. As a result, we can say that it is a more advanced version of the Fighter. So, if at the beginning of your adventure you chose to play with the Fighter class, this is definitely the one you should consider to become increasingly stronger.
It is a vocation that specializes in hand-to-hand combat and is capable of inflicting a large amount of damage on your opponents. Given its nature, it is a perfect vocation to support companions during battles, especially those who belong to the Mage and Sorcerer classes. The Warrior's task, in fact, is to protect his companions while they are intent on launching attacks from afar.
So, if you are a player who prefers a more aggressive approach, the Dragon's Dogma 2 Warrior vocation is definitely the one for you. If you have played as the Fighter, you will not notice many differences, as the classes behave in a very similar way, the difference being that the Warrior is a more powerful version and is able to inflict more damage and take less damage.
How to Play Warrior in Dragon's Dogma 2
Unlike the Fighter, which did not excel in its defense skills, the Warrior has a much greater defense. As a result, this allows you to be an even more significant help to your companions. As if that weren't enough, there are also skills that are able to improve both the offensive and defensive aspects of this Dragon's Dogma 2 vocation. However, as in the case of the Fighter, the Warrior is certainly not very agile, so take this aspect into consideration when fighting.
A very important thing about the Warrior is that he is able to target multiple enemies at the same time, just like the Fighter. The difference lies in the fact that, being an enhanced version, he will be able to inflict greater damage, especially if you decide to make use of certain skills that are present in his arsenal.
From all this, therefore, comes the fact that the Warrior is one of the classes that is capable of inflicting the most damage on the opponent. However, although this Dragon's Dogma 2 vocation has very powerful attacks in its arsenal, they are characterized by long animations during which your character will be vulnerable. Consequently, it is important that you have the right timing and that you decide to attack while one of your companions distracts the enemies.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Warrior Skills
As is also the case with the other Dragon's Dogma 2 vocations, the Warrior is also equipped with a set of skills that are certainly useful during your adventure, especially if you have to face very powerful enemies. To be precise, in Dragon's Dogma 2, there are three different skill categories: Weapon Skills, Core Skills, and Augments. Let's see together what it is.
Weapon Skills
Weapon skills are skills that allow a weapon to be used in a completely different way based on your Dragon's Dogma 2 vocation. In fact, even though the weapon is the same, the skills will be different based on the class chosen.
- Mighty Sweep: Sweeps in a horizontal arc. Holding the activation button turns the attack into a charged slash and makes the user less likely to flinch.
- Stonesplitter: Performs a mighty downward slash. Follows up with a powerful successive strike if it connects with a foe who has been knocked off balance.
- Breakneck Strike: Enables a charged attack to inflict greater harm by unleashing it the very instant it is fully charged.
- Repulse: Parries a hostile target’s attack by unleashing a charged attack that can knock the target off balance.
- Barge: Rushes forward, tackling the target. Though limited in range, it can force the target to flinch. The user is less likely to flinch while it is active.
- Chain of Blows: Employs the user’s momentum to unleash an additional Mighty Sweep.
- Bulwark: Reduces damage taken from hostile targets during a charged attack.
Core Skills
These are abilities that are intrinsic to weapons. This means they can be used by any vocation type that has access to them.
- Skyward Sunder: Jumps up and slashes skyward simultaneously, swinging the blade in mid-air. Can be charged prior to unleashing.
- Goring Lunge: Charges forward, running targets through with the blade. Pressing the activation button again stabs forward. Striking with momentum impales foes and crashing them into walls inflicts more harm.
- Savage Lash: Channels the user’s strength into a devastating hit that grows in power the longer it is charged.
- Ladder Launch: Enables the user to plant their feet and launch an ally into the air from their shoulders.
- Gale Slash: Uses the blade’s momentum to unleash a series of weighty slashes. Swings grow faster and faster if correctly timed. Unleashes a powerful slash attack if button is released when swinging fast enough.
- Tidal Fury: Delivers a momentous counterattack if the user is struck at the moment of activation. Can guard against targets’ strikes even should the counterattack fail.
- Heavenward Sunder: An advanced form of Skyward Sunder that inflicts greater harm when fully charged.
- Bellow: Shouts to draw the attention of hostile targets in the vicinity.
- Rending Sweep: Spins the blade with enough force to cut down foes in all directions. Can be charged prior to unleashing.
- Knoll Breaker: Thrusts the blade upward, delivering a solid blow that can knock targets off balance or render them unconscious. Can be charged prior to unleashing.
- Revivify: Gives the user a second wind, curing them of some debilitations (caught fire, frostbite, sleep, silence, and unconscious).
- Surging Strike: Leaps up and plunges down the blade using the full force of the user’s weight. Deals further strikes to smaller, flinching targets. Employable while jumping. More powerful when used from a height.
- Razing Sweep: An advanced form of Rending Sweep.
Augments
Augments are nothing more than buffs and bonuses that can be used during your adventure in Dragon's Dogma 2. Once unlocked, they can be used regardless of your vocation.
- Conveyance: Hastens movement speed while carrying or lifting.
- Opulence: Increase gold obtained when acquiring coin pouches.
- Pertinacity: Improves your ability to break through an opponent’s guard.
- Dominance: Augments your Knockdown Power.
- Vitality: Increases your maximum Health.
- Intrepidity: Reduces cumulation of the loss gauge when receiving damage.
- Impact: Improves your ability to push and pull targets when grabbing hold.
