It's a clash between Western powerhouses as two unshakeable teams square off for supremacy in the Swiss Stage for Worlds 2023. C9 vs MAD Lions – LCS vs LEC.
With their main competition in the NA falling behind, Cloud9 stands as the most consistent org in the LCS. Their dominance in their home region and their impressive win record create the mark of a team destined to make it to Worlds. On the other hand, MAD Lion's ferocious playstyle and tendency to pull off deep runs in the face of impossible odds makes them a hot-blooded force to be reckoned with.

C9 vs MAD Lions Preview
C9
Despite having less domestic titles under their belt, C9's academy team has always produced successful rosters. As a result, Cloud9's org has been able to carry on their winstreaks with completely different players over the years, and their current pro-team is no exception. Clinching gold in multiple splits and finishing second in the LCS Season Finals, Blaber's squad is ready to go toe-to-toe with the best in the game.
Looking at C9's past performance, their draft matters a lot when calculating their win probability. Nevertheless, the NA team has fantastic form in their matches, just so long as their top-lane doesn't get completely destroyed in the first few minutes of the match.
C9 Player Roster
- Toplaner: Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami
- Jungler: Robert “Blaber” Huang
- Midlaner: Jang “EMENES” Min-soo
- ADC: Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol
- Support: Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen
Player to Watch
EMENES exercises control over the entire map with his well-timed roams that prevent his team from getting steamrolled by better picks.
MAD Lions
MAD rose to prominence this season after multiple successful campaigns in the LEC. And despite claiming a split for themselves back in Spring, the Spanish team has fallen out of form in recent matches partly due to Fnatic's last minute rally. However, MAD is nothing if not persevering, and it's that grit that has made them bounce back from worse spots in the past. They've proven time and time again that they're a solid contender, and at their best they are matched only by the Kings of Europe.
MAD Lions Player Roster
- Toplaner: Kim “Chasy” Dong-hyeon
- Jungler: Javier “Elyoya” Batalla
- Midlaner: Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer
- ADC: Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság
- Support: Zdravets “Hylissang” Galabov

Keep an eye out for Nisqy's lightning-fast plays on Azir.
MAD Lions vs C9 Predictions
When comparing the current state of both teams, Cloud9 would be the optimum choice due to their years-long track record of going the distance in big-ticket tournaments. That said, C9's win probability would go down if Nisqy somehow finds a way to control his rival's movements whilst contesting major objectives.
