Baldur's Gate 3's open sandbox approach gives players countless opportunities to deal with the game's challenges. One of these obstacles is the early-game goblin camp, the antagonistic force in the game's first act.
Whether you're in the middle of your “good” campaign siding with the druids or just want to mess with the Absolute's forces, there's a delightfully sneaky way to get rid of the goblins in their camp which involves — you guessed it — poisoning their grog. Here's how you can poison the goblins in Baldur's Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Poison Goblins
Mess with the goblin camp's booze and watch half of them fall without a fight. Here's how you spike the goblins' punch bowl.
Get Poison
The first step is to get poison. Basic Poison vials and certain toxins are very common drops in the first act of Baldur's Gate 3, but there's one surefire way to acquire the deadly substance in the main questline.
Near the starting area of the game, you'll find the Druid Grove to the north. Shortly after, you'll learn of the tensions surrounding the refugees inside the safe haven and Halsin, the druids' missing archdruid.
Head to the Druid's Chamber where you'll meet Kagha and the rest of the grove's leaders. Tell them about your affliction and enter one of the chambers to meet Nettie, a Dwarf Druid NPC. Be completely honest about the tadpole, and she'll give you a vial of Wyvern Toxin for you to drink in case you fully turn.
Find the Goblin Camp
The Goblin Camp in Act 1 can be found by travelling west from the Druid's Grove, past the Blighted Village. Along the way, you can fight your way through hordes of enemies, lie your way through using successful Charisma checks or pose as a True Soul for the Absolute's army.
Crossing a bridge, you'll encounter a checkpoint guarded by goblins and worgs. Fight the goblins or take the path to the right to sneak past. Going further down reveals a path that goes through a waterfall where you can find useful loot. Besides that, you can climb up the other side to find a way into the Goblin Camp. The mobs will remain neutral here, so don't attack anyone unless you have to.
Get an Invisibility Potion
You'll need to do this unseen, and it's hard to be sneaky in broad daylight in the middle of a Goblin camp. That said, there's an easy way to get a special potion to avoid any detection entirely while you're in the camp.
Once you've made it inside the Goblin camp, go through the large double doors that lead to the Inner Sanctum. Go down the steps until you get to the main chamber where Priestess Gut can be found. Turn left and go up the stairs to find Roah Moonglow, a merchant that can sell you 1 Invisibility potion for 137 gold.
Poison the Booze
Head to the scaffolded tower between the two courtyards to find a large upside-down skull the goblins have been using as their booze tub.
Before anything, it's very important that the rest of your party is far from the booze tub before you try to sneak anything in it. Afterwards, simply drink the invisibility potion and interact with the tub to pour your choice of poison in. Doing this correctly will trigger a cutscene which will differ depending on whether or not you chose to side with the Absolute.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Poison Goblins: Pick Your Poison
Baldur's Gate 3's open design lets players creatively think of new ways to get around its obstacles. One prime example is the goblin camp, half of which can be disposed of by simply poisoning their grog. To accomplish this, all players need is a vial of poison, invisibility potions and a bit of moxie. All in all, Baldur’s Gate 3 Poison Goblins is a great way to demonstrate what makes the game of the year winner so great to play.
