This one is a direct sequel to the first Helldivers released back in 2015 and has significant changes compared to the newest release. One such mechanic that players love is the ability to use Stratagems, which was also seen in the first game. These abilities allow players to change the tides of the Galactic War. During the early game stages, players start with only a few basic Stratagems, but as you upgrade your ship newer and more effective Stratagems. Stratagems are one of the most useful features in Helldivers 2 and can help out in very difficult situations. Smartly using them can allow players to come out on top in unwinnable scenarios and get a massive advantage in the Galactic War. You can find several Stratagems in the Ship Management Terminal in Helldivers 2. Wisely using them can take out entire swarms of Terminids and groups of Automatons.

Stratagems are categorized into 6 groups. Players can unlock and use multiple Stratagems from each of these categories. Some are defensive while some help in offensive fights. Others provide a passive tactical advantage. They can be unlocked by using Requisitions which is a currency in the game. Players can collect Requisitions by playing missions and leveling up.

8. B-1 Supply Pack – 4000 R

Having enough supplies in Helldivers 2 is crucial. Items like ammo, grenades and stims are very important items that require a lot of critical planning to manage. The only way to resupply right now is a supply drop which cannot be moved. This means players will have to walk back to the pod every time they need to refill.

A B-1 Supply Pack allows a player to carry additional supplies and take them wherever they go. This can be very useful in certain situations. The supply pack allows players to not only resupply themselves in long engagements but also support their teammates with useful items. This Stratagem falls under the Engineering Bay category.

7. A/G-16 Gatling Gun Sentry – Level 5

Most players will start with a Machine Gun Sentry early on in the game. However, the Gatling Gun Sentry is a major upgrade from the previous and much easier to use. It has a higher rate of fire, which means it can take down large groups of enemies very quickly. With this Stratagem players can lock down areas and defend themselves quite easily.

The best way to use the Gatling Gun is by using it to keep smaller enemies distracted. In certain fights, large and stronger enemies have a group of smaller ones as support. With the Gatling Gun mowing down these small minions, you can focus on the bigger target without any distractions. This Stratagem is a part of the Robotic Workshop.

6. MD-6 Anti-Personnel Minefield – 1500 R

Another defensive Stratagem from the Engineering Bay is the MD-6 Anti-Personnel Minefield. Placing these mines allows players to defend a certain position as enemies come to attack. These mines are quite powerful and can take out small and even medium-sized enemies. In many cases, they can destroy the armor of larger targets.

An effective way of utilizing the Anti-Personnel Minefield is to place them as you wait for an extraction shuttle to arrive. Most players have a hard time defending themselves while extracting, so this can be quite helpful in these scenarios. They can also be used as flank coverage, allowing players to focus on one direction as the mines cover their backs.

5. FX-12 Sheild Generator Relay – Level 10

The FX-12 Sheild Generator Relay is a Bridge Stratagem and is quite helpful in chaotic situations. The Sheild Generator becomes available for players quite late into the game. However, it is still one of the most effective Stratagems in fights. After deploying it, a shield bubble opens up inside which players can take cover inside. The shield can deflect projectiles and keep anyone inside safe.

The Sheild Generator Relay is especially effective against Automatons and in some cases the Terminids which use melee attacks.

This Stratagem is a part of the Hanger Stratagems and is one of the most destructive weapons in the game. This is a very high-level Stratagem and is one of the best airstrikes available from the Eagle Squadron. One of the qualities of this bomb is the fact that there is no delay after you request one. This makes the 500kg Bomb more effective compared to orbital bombs.

The Eagle 500kg Bomb blasts everything in its range and leaves nothing but a smoking crater. All kinds of enemies, large to small, are destroyed at its hand. The one thing that everyone needs to remember before requesting this bomb is to get out of the effective kill zone to avoid any kind of friendly fire.

3. Laser Cannon – Level 5

Another Stratagem from the Engineering Bay is the Laser Canon, which is one of the strongest weapons in the early game. It is wise to use it as often as possible after unlocking. Because it does not require any ammo, players can effectively use it for the entirety of a mission. Just make sure it doesn’t overheat and you’ll have a weapon that can be extremely useful.

The Laser Cannon can also cut through heavy armor pretty easily. This makes it very strong against enemies like the Charger, as it can tear through its thick armor. If several players use it together at the same time, they can easily take out very strong elite-tiered enemies.

2. Orbital Railcannon Strike – Level 20

The Orbital Railcannon Strike is one of the Orbital Cannons Stratagems and is very good against large and strong targets. It can destroy any single large-sized target to ashes.

After deployment, the Railcannon looks for the largest enemy it can find within its range and targets it. The Railcannon fires with the same power as one used to destroy large spaceships. It's a great way to fight large bosses and deal some massive damage.

Another Stratagem from the Orbital Cannons is the Orbital 380mm HE Barrage. This is the perfect weapon if you’re looking to take down an entire enemy outpost. It's a great way to draw out enemies from their bases and deal some damage to anyone outside. Because of its high and explosive damage, the 380 mm HE Barrage is easily one of the best Stratagems in Helldivers 2. 

Its massive range also allows players to cover entire nests and even out targets like Terminid eggs and turrets.
