We will be talking about the 5 best weapons in Helldivers 2. There’s 29 different guns to pick from, so we chose to handpick the 5 top performing ones in Helldivers right now. It’s important to note that each weapon has a different playstyle and a weapon might seem strong to someone, whereas it’ll feel disappointing to others.

Do note that these are not arranged in a particular order and all 5 of the weapons listed can be stronger or weaker than the other; it all depends on how you use it and how proficient you are with the weapon.

Number 5 – SG-8 Punisher Shotgun

Best Guns in Helldivers 2

Costs 4 Medals to unlock.

Shotguns are generally known for excelling in close quarters, in-your-face combat, but the SG-8 Punisher Shotgun has a tighter bullet pattern, which means it can be used for mid-range gunfights as well. This, of course, also means that you can handle conflicts from a relatively safe distance, unlike with other shotguns.

When you’re up close, this shotgun is devastatingly powerful, with a Fire rating of 080 and 360 Damage rating. We can guarantee you’ll have plenty of fun smashing and blowing your way through bugs and robots alike with this beast of a weapon.

As the first shotgun of Helldivers 2, it still holds up to the standards in the latest version of the game, holding its own against all the other new guns introduced in Helldivers 2.

Number 4 – R-63 Diligence Marksman Rifle

Best Guns in Helldivers 2

Costs 8 Medals to unlock.

For our next contender, we have the R-63 Diligence. It classifies as a Marksman Rifle and is damn good at being one. If your playstyle consists of taking long range fights, and picking off enemies one by one while doing massive damage, then this rifle will definitely tick all the boxes for you.

With a Damage rating of 112 and a Fire Rate of 350, the R-63 is especially good at breaking through light armors. With that being said, it might take a bit of time to get used to this weapon as it has a pretty small magazine and a relative slow fire rate compared to other rifles. However, the weapon barely has any recoil, so you can shoot pretty fast and comfortably without losing control over it.

After getting used to how this weapon feels and works, you’ll be sure to start appreciating the power of this rifle against the enemies of Helldivers 2. A good tip to keep in mind is that you should always try scoping instead of trying to hip fire as it will improve your accuracy by a considerable amount.

Number 3 – LAS-5 Scythe Beam Rifle

Best Guns in Helldivers 2

Costs 30 Medals to unlock and is part of the Helldivers Mobilize Warbonds progression rewards.

The LAS-5 Scythe Beam Rifle doesn't shoot bullets, and instead it lets out a continuous stream of energy beam at the enemies, dealing 300 damage/second with pinpoint accuracy. With ammo being as scarce as it is in the game, the fact that it uses heat dump canisters as its ammo source makes it a very viable weapon to use. Not to mention, it does a significantly higher damage to robots as well.

The weapon, however, is quite slow to turn around when you’re actively firing with it, which can mess up the accuracy and muscle memory of the player shooting it. Moreover, it also decreases the fire rate if the beam hits an enemy while you’re turning it, so it’s recommended that you adjust your target as much as possible before shooting.

You can upgrade this weapon to make it even better, increasing its damage and handling of heat absorption.

Number 2 – SG-225 Breaker Shotgun

Best Guns in Helldivers 2

Costs 20 Medals to unlock and is part of the Helldivers Mobilize Warbonds progression rewards.

If you’re looking for the middle ground of shotguns in the game, then the SG-225 Breaker Shotgun will fulfill your bucket list. This shotgun’s unique trait is that it’s fully automatic, meaning you can just hold down the fire button and the weapon will do the job for you; given you’re accurate enough with it of course.

That being said, all shotguns in the game have a distinct fire pattern and SG-225 has a relatively tight spread, which means you can also take fights either short-range or mid-range. Not to mention, upgrading the weapon will let you increase its range, letting you take more mid-range fights with ease.

Number 1 – AR-23P Liberator

Best Guns in Helldivers 2

The AR-23P Liberator counts as an all-rounder versatile weapon, fitting for most combat scenarios in the game. With a fire rate of 640 and 055 damage per bullet, chances are you’ll get comfortable with this weapon pretty fast.

For beginners, it’s also very easy to pick up since it’s an assault rifle and you can just spray to win in the case of most enemies. Additionally, every player will have access to this weapon from the very beginning, which means you’ll get plenty of opportunities to get used to how this weapon feels and kills.

And that concludes our list of the 5 best weapons in Helldivers 2 right now. This is entirely a subjective list and should be considered as such, but that doesn’t mean that all the weapons listed here don’t pack a punch! The devs will definitely be updating the game with more fearsome and powerful weapons in the future, and we’ll surely be taking a look at how they perform as well on our site, so keep an eye out!
