Warhammer 40k series starring Henry Cavill is 90% sure to happen, but what do we know about the new Amazon show exactly?
Exciting rumours started to circulate thanks to the popular Warhammer 40k YouTuber, Chapter Master Valrak. In a recent video he posted, he talked about some possibilities of the Warhammer 40k Amazon series, which has Man of Steel and The Witcher Netflix Series star, Henry Cavill’s name attached to it.

Warhammer 40k Series Starring Henry Cavill – is it really happening?
Valrak informed the public that the new series set in the universe of Warhammer 40k is almost a 100% sure to happen, as Games Workshop and Amazon made an agreement “in principle”, meaning that both parties expressed intentions to do the show, and it’s only a matter of time and details of the contracts that makes it official.
Amazon already has some amazing shows under its belt such as The Boys, Invincible, Good Omens and The Rings of Power – which even though didn’t get the stellar reviews it anticipated, was still a great show. Warhammer, and especially 40k has vast amounts of stories to cover, and Games Workshop has been known to give access to their IP’s to various companies, hence the plethora of Warhammer Games. Warhammer series are also becoming much more prevalent with the latest release called Pariah Nexus, which had a great reception after the first two episodes.
Warhammer 40k Series Starring Henry Cavill – who will be in it?
The first big name to be revealed with the first rumours a few months back was obviously the king of the nerds, Henry Cavill. The start of the Man of Steel and Netflix’s The Witcher series is known to be very fond of Warhammer 40k, playing armies such as the Adeptus Custodes on the tabletop. He has some free time on his hands as The Witcher will continue (or not) without him, as he reportedly got into some disagreements with the showrunners about the show diverging from the source material. Cavill’s attitude could be a match made in heaven for a Warhammer 40k series, as the fans of the 41st Millenium like it when the various other media sticks to the stories of the last 40 years.
Other than Cavill, Chapter Master Valrak mentioned Karl Urban who plays Butch in the hit “super hero” series, The Boys (which is also on Amazon), but also starred in Thor: Ragnarök and the Lord of the Rings series, as well as Idris Elba, who recently played in the Suicide Squad reboot and is also a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Heimdal. So far, we don’t know what role Urban and Elba could play, but they are talented actors, so they will surely find their place in the new series.
Warhammer 40k Series Starring Henry Cavill – what will it be about?
When the rumours started to circulate about the series, the biggest question of the community was which story would Amazon cover: the Horus Heresy perhaps, or Gaunt’s Ghosts, maybe a completely original story set in the universe of Warhammer 40k?
While those stories would certainly be a sight to behold in a series, according to Valrak, Amazon would like to start out with something a bit smaller: the story of Gregor Eisenhorn, the Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos. This would be a great introduction of the world of Warhammer 40k to a wider audience, as the Puritan turned Xanthite is a very interesting character, and he has some incredible stories in his books. Someone that wants to use daemons to Mankind’s gain could be a great protagonist, and we also saw that Cavill was a great Geralt – it was everything else that didn’t work out with The Witcher.
Of course, Amazon has made mistakes in it’s past projects like The Rings of Power and New World (or remember Crucible?), but they also had some great projects. Hopefully, the studio listens to the suggestion of Chapter Master Valrak and puts Dan Abnett in charge of the screenplay, as there’s no one better than the writer of the Eisenhorn series.
While all this information are mere rumours, Amazon and Games Workshop could create something incredible – we can’t wait to see how the story of the new Warhammer 40k series evolves!
