Former ROX Tigers and Team SoloMid coach Kim “SSONG” Sang-soo has agreed to coach Counter Logic Gaming for the 2020 LCS season.
According to ESPN, SSONG will replace Heo “Irean” Yeong-cheol, who coached the side during the 2019 season. SSONG most recently worked with Echo Fox and had a short stint with Immortals back in 2017.
CLG has been fairly quiet so far this off-season, with the major change to the roster coming in the form of a support swap deal with TSM which saw Vincent “Biofrost” Wang rejoin TSM with Andy “Smoothie” Ta joining CLG.
CLG is likely just in the market for a mid laner with Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage’s contract up as of Monday. CLG will consist of top laner Kim “Ruin” Hyeong-min, jungler Raymond “Wiggily” Griffin, Trevor “stixxay” Hayes and Smoothie.
CLG had a mixed 2019 campaign, starting the season with a seventh-place finish in the Spring Split before making changes to the top lane and jungle. This saw the team finish third in the Summer Split, though defeat to underdogs CG in the Regional Finals saw the team miss out on Worlds.
