Pokémon TCG Miraidon ex Card Spotlight

How to use Miraidon ex, and why its such a good card in the current meta.

Scarlet and Violet's Miraidon ex has tons of potential, especially when combined with a few other cards.

Miraidon ex

As one of the two most prominently featured Pokémon in the Scarlet & Violet set, it's easy to imagine it would be pretty powerful. Not only are its ability and sole attack powerful, but its type is the most prominent in the meta, and some of the other strongest cards in the game do wonders to enable it. With a 220 damage attack that costs only two lightning and one colorless energy, it can take on lots of V and ex Pokémon with the only drawback being that it loses a single turn.

Some of Miraidon ex's best Pokémon to team with are Evolving Skies Flaaffy, Regileki V/VMAX, and Flying Pikachu V/VMAX. Flaaffy's ability Dynamotor allows the player to take a card from the discard pile and attach it to one of their Pokémon, meaning you could theoretically have Miraidon ready to attack on its second turn on the field if Flaaffy is in play. As far as Regileki V/VMAX and Flying Pikachu V/VMAX go, they can both be used for their retreat cost of 0 energy. This allows the player to put them up front to attack and take damage, then switch out for Miraidon ex. Then during the turn Miraidon is unable to attack, one of those two Pokémon with no retreat cost can be swapped in, attack, and repeat the swapping next turn.

Having one or two Miraidon ex in your deck could be a huge game changer if you mix it with the right deck. Its one of the reasons Lightning decks are so popular at the moment. Don't hesitate to start building a Lightning deck with Miraidon ex if you want to climb the Pokémon TCG Live ladder.
