Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Greninja Appears in 7-Star Raids

Catch a Poison Tera Greninja in the last Raid event of January 2023!

The Water Type Generation 6 starter is now available to be caught in Scarlet and Violet.

Poison Tera Greninja

Greninja the Unrivaled (Greninja)
Ability: Protean
Tera Type: Poison
- Gunk Shot
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Night Slash

The Cinderace event will last from Friday January 27th to Sunday January 29th. This event Greninja comes with the Mightiest Mark, hence its “Unrivaled” title. It also has perfect IVs upon capture, making the single catch limit reasonable by giving every trainer an equally perfect Greninja! Although not listed on the move list, Greninja will also have the moves Toxic Spikes and Double Team during the raid, making it harder to hit, and more crucial for your Pokémon not to faint and be sent back in.

Best Raid Pokémon

The most popular set being run against Greninja is the same Slowbro Stored Power set that people began to run during the second half of the Cinderace Raid.

Ability: N/A
Tera Type: Psychic
Adamant Modest
- Iron Defense
- Nasty Plot
- Stored Power
- Slack off

The idea behind this set is to build up Defense, Special Attack, and Special Defense as much as you can before using Stored Power repeatedly to put those stat boosts to use. Slack off is for the case that you aren't being healed by Support Pokémon and Trainers. It is recommended to train the Slowbro's EVs in Special Attack for maximum damage, and Defense to tank hits from one of Greninja's Night Slash attacks.

Besides a perfect IV Greninja, trainers can also receive Ability Patches, Battle Caps, Tera Shards, Mints, Nuggets, and plenty of easy to find items in bulk. The rewards can be won from doing multiple Greninja raids over again, but only one Greninja can be caught during the event.
