PlayStation 5 Event Canceled Out Of Respect For Black Lives Matter Protests

Sony is delaying its PS5 event so as to not take away the spotlight from the BLM movement.

In a strange twist of fate, but not exactly the most surprising, Sony has canceled its PS5 conference that was scheduled for this Thursday. The announcement has only been posted on their social media as of now. There are no updates on the actual Sony site yet.

The tweet above was posted just hours ago and Twitter has already voiced a huge amount of vocal discontent. Gamers across the boards are mad, some due to the console delay, some due to black people being killed. In such a state of affairs where looting has become a form of protest for peace, it will be interesting to see Sony follow up this next wave of responses. Ironically enough, they posted another tweet beforehand.

So far, Sony has given us two tweets. One, with a black background calling for support towards the Black Lives Matter movement. The other, with blue background stating, “We have decided to postpone the Playstation 5 event scheduled for June 4th. While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard.”

The comments on Twitter should be read if anyone has the time. A new date regarding the next PS5 conference has yet to be released.
