Overwatch League: Xfinity to Present 2019 Playoffs and Grand Finals

Xfinity, a Comcast subsidiary, will present Season 2019 of the Overwatch League.

The Overwatch League announced Xfinity as the presenting partner of the 2019 playoffs and Grand Finals in Philadelphia. Xfinity is a Comcast brand for digital TV, high-speed internet and home phone services. This partnership will give a better exposure for the Overwatch League, as Xfinity provides various TV services and replays.

This is not the first step of Comcast in esports. The largest cable TV provider owns Philadelphia Fusion, one of the first Overwatch League team which took part in the Grand Finals in 2018. Last February, Comcast announced the construction of a new stadium for the Philadelphia Fusion: the Fusion Arena. This 3,500-seat dedicated esports arena features more than 2,000 square feet of LED screens to display all Fusion matches.

The Comcast-owned internet brand will benefit from a major presence at Wells Fargo Center and on broadcasts, according to esports journalist Adam Stern. The Overwatch League officials should provide more information about this deal on the days to come.
