Overwatch League: Guangzhou Charge Releases Three Players

The Guangzhou Charge is parting ways with Shu, nero and Happy.

The Guangzhou Charge continues to make room in its roster. As the team dropped four players mid-October, the Guangzhou Charge now saying goodbye to three of their founding members: Jin-seo “Shu” Kim, Charlie “nero” Zwarg and Jung-woo “Happy” Lee.

Shu, nero and Happy have been with the Guangzhou Charge since the team’s creation, back in 2018. Happy and nero were the main DPS players of the team, alongside Ou “Eileen” Yiliang. Shu was the last remaining support player of the Guangzhou Charge, as the team dropped part of its roster a month ago.

These departures may come as a surprise, as the Guangzhou Charge had a better Overwatch League Season in 2020 than in 2019. While the team crashed at the 10th position of the Overwatch League 2019 Regular Season and Playoffs, they outperformed this year. The Guangzhou Charge won the Overwatch League 2020 Summer Showdown and placed 5th in the Regular Season.

The Guangzhou Charge is now left with only three players. Ou “Eileen” Yiliang is the sole remaining DPS player, while the tanking duo formed of Seung-pyo “Rio” Oh and Ki-cheol “Cr0ng” Nam is staying with the team.
