Overwatch: Blizzard Teases Sigma, Overwatch’s 31st Hero

Blizzard released a teaser yesterday showing off what looks to be Overwatch‘s 31st hero.

The official Overwatch Twitter account released a teaser yesterday for what looks like Overwatch‘s next hero, Sigma.

The tweet somewhat confirms that rumor. The teaser itself features someone standing listening to classical music with the Greek letter sigma on his or her chest. Eventually, the “melody” referred to in the tweet stops and an alarm starts to sound.

In fact, Overwatch Lead Jeff Kaplan glossed over a “Who is Sigma” question during a recent livestream with Overwatch streamer Brandon “Seagull” Larned. He later teased the hero in a cheeky “Developer Update.” In the update, Kaplan appears onscreen and starts to talk. Soon after, however, some sort of gravity distortion gobbles up the screen. After that, equations appear over the top of a somber piano melody. The character has some relation to both mathematics and music according to both the teaser tweets.

It is unclear when players and fans can expect Sigma. Given the monumental task of overhauling competitive play and the fact that Sigma has yet to appear on the Public Test Environment, it might be a little while longer before fans can get their hands on the new character.
