Overwatch 2: Sombra New Abilities And Ultimate

Blizzard announced the new abilities and ultimate updates for Sombra in Overwatch 2.

During the last match of the Overwatch League, Blizzard shared more information about Sombra in Overwatch 2. Here are all the changes coming for the hero compared to the original Overwatch.

Passive: Opportunist

The core of Sombra’s gameplay is to hack her enemies and environment to help her team win fights.

In Overwatch 2, Sombra gains a passive to help her finish hacked targets faster: Opportunist. Sombra will now deal 50% more damage to hacked targets.

Machine Pistol

Sombra’s Machine Pistol, her main weapon, doesn’t go under major changes but rather receives some balance. Its damage is reduced from 8 to 7, but the bullets spread is also reduced by 20%, making her shots more accurate.

Hack

The main feature of Sombra is her ability to hack opponents. In Overwatch 2, the cooldown of her Hack is reduced from 8 to 3 seconds. However, hacking health packs will no longer reduce by half the remaining duration of the cooldown. The hack duration of health packs is reduced from 60 to 30 seconds.

Not only can Sombra uses her Hack more often, but it also lasts longer: 8 seconds, instead of 5 seconds in the original game. The ability lock duration is also reduced from 5 seconds to 1 second.

Hacked enemies now appear through walls for Sombra’s entire team for 8 seconds, just like with Widowmaker’s ultimate.

Stealth

Stealth is the ability allowing Sombra to disappear for a short period of time. The fade-in time is reduced by 50% in Overwatch 2, but the detection radius is increased from 2 to 4 meters.

Sombra can now Hack while in Stealth, but she will briefly become visible to enemies.

Ultimate: EMP

Sombra’s EMP is one of the most powerful Ultimate of Overwatch, disabling all enemy barriers and hacking all opponents caught in the blast.

In Overwatch 2, Sombra’s EMP will no longer deal any additional shield-specific damage. Instead, it will deal 40% of enemies’ current HP, making them more vulnerable to a coordinated assault.

The new abilities and ultimate of Sombra increase her value as a team member, with more powerful hacks and a see-through ability for her entire team.
